Producer of New HBO James Brown Documentary Talks About His Influence

"Everything we now know about funk and hip-hip............it really comes from this dynamic character: James Brown."
Not to blow my own horn, but I've often thought exactly the same. I saw him when he was 50, when he was 60, and when he was 70. That last one was the one which blew me away the most. At 70, he was still blowing away any Funk, Soul or Rap artist that you could name. The moves might have been gone (mostly), but it sure didn't matter. James proved that he is the FUNKIEST, and he played keyboards while he sang for most of the show.
I saw the video that I took this quote from on Yahoo Entertainment. I haven't been able to find it again or I would have posted a link. I'm not sure it's fair, though, that this film should only be seen on HBO. Of course eventually it will likely be on DVD. I already pay $190/month for my combined cable TV, home phone and DSL service. They raised it early this year from $180. I'll be g*damned if I'm going to pay another $20/month for ten HBO channels when I've got way more movie channels than I have time to watch already.
I realize, though, that HBO put up the bill to make the film.
