Well, I heard from the Dan man himself. He's doing better than I had expected.
Dan prefers to keep his health to himself. I apologize to him for putting information out there, but I still feel the HTN family vibe. I know that there are a lot of folks who frequent these pages who know and care about Dan.
He was hospitalized for about a week recently, and the primary chemo drug that he's been depending on has pretty much become ineffective. It's not great news by any means, but maybe not as severe as I made it sound.
I asked if he might be able to drop by GABBA. He's uncertain at this point.
Dan's a real fighter - nobody tougher that I know of. Keep him in your thoughts - he's always in mine.
And Dan, I apologize for talking about you behind your back. Stay strong! 😉

Hello everybody! I keep looking around to see who you all are talking about. All I can say is thanks so much. I think of that animated movie "UP!" I'm the old man and your thoughts and kind words are the balloons keeping me afloat.
Rusty informed everybody where I'm at treatment wise. Some chemos are failing, they are doing me more harm than helping. One bad reaction had me getting a megadose of morphine. The room had a curtain designed with circles and the circles all started ' dancing '. I only thought I knew what a ' 10 ' was on a pain scale! Wild ride.
Since this thread of created, we've lost Capt. Skipper and Gregg Brooks. I got to talk with Gregg a week prior to his passing. Our cancer is the same, his was just in a different area of the body. We both had that mutual understanding so to speak, it was bittersweet and a knowledge we could've done without.
Thanks again for the words, I'll continue to try and live up to them. If its one thing I discovered throughout this journey is that although I may feel that I walk alone; I really don't, there are many folks out there sending good vibes.
I want a good death, something not given to many. I pray for strength and peace. One thing I will keep at the end is the many friends I've met through this site all because of Duane Allman.
Lately it's occurred to me what a long strange trip its been.

Dan, you're in my morning meditations and prayers every single day. I'm sorry if I spoke out of school or divulged private information. But I know there are folks who frequent this site who do care about you. I figure the more prayers and good thoughts -the better.
