Some more Rory for TD!

Hey all.
Just discovered this post recently, don't come here much anymore.
Thanks so much for all the kind words. One gets to thinking that they haven't done much in their life and then people remind you that you did something or said something that made a difference some how. Kind of like 'its A Wonderful Life'.
If I did do something that made a difference just know that it was reflecting back at you the love you first showed me.
I don't want to be going down the road I'm on now and your words and prayers do help keep me centered. I was honored and moved reading all the posts. If I have any words of wisdom to share it would be for each of you to reach into your 'bucket list', pull something out and Just Do It! The CCR song ' Someday Never Comes ' is true and your bucket lists are all written with disappearing ink. Go do it sooner than later. Trust me, from where I am standing I only have the one ticket left to get punched and I'm going to try to hold on to it as long as I can.
I'll be checking in every now and again. Tony, thanks for the poem. I want to read reports of bucket lists being checked off. Time waits for no one...hey, that sounds like a good name for a song.

Hey Dan - thanks for checking in !
Continued good thoughts and prayers coming your way.
Bucket list, hmmm.

Great to see the Dan Man among us!
My Bucket List:
minnow/live bait bucket
mop bucket
steel paint bucket
old draught beer bucket from now-defunct bar
3 old dry wall mud buckets
I thought I had a few more . Oh, well ... BUCKET! 😉

We love you Dan!
funny you should talk about a bucket list, I just said to Kevin this morning, I wish he would take Ashley & I to Montauck this summer, I want to once again, walk my Dad's fav streets and beaches.
Kevin answered, who will run the Dealership? ..and so is life 🙁
Some of us are destined to work to live, live to work ..but we can dream
In my dreams, Dan, you walk with all of us, healthy and happy .. praying this dream comes true..

Dan,
The only regret I have about getting to know you is that you live several states away. I would love to be able to hang out with you and enjoy a beer or two and share some great music with you once in awhile...:)
I'm sending prayers and positive vibes to you on the first day of this new year...
Take care my friend in music and .......

Some musical Bucket List items that have actually happened for me ( a few actually happened prior to the movie but would have been on my list)
Visiting London and walking across the famous intersection at Abbey Rd
Visiting Liverpool and having a pint at The Grape, the Beatles' watering hole that's just a couple buildings down from The Cavern (which was dry back then) ..and of course visiting The Cavern as well...
Visiting New Orleans and walking Bourbon Street during Jazz Fest
Visiting Sab Francisco and standing in front of 2400 Fulton St. and standing at the corner of Haight and Asbury
Visiting Athens, GA and seeing a show at The 40 Watt and buying a CD at Wuxtry's Records
Visiting Macon GA (and running into some guy named TanDan there totally by accident...:) )

Andrew, that was when I did the 25 cent tour of Macon for you, everything fast and furious..." and over there, ok, then over there, ok, see that rock? Duane kicked it once " We both had time limits that day.
You didn't tell how we met, never having met each other before. You were coming out of the H&H as I almost bumped into you going in! You walked past me and said 'TanDan'? I turned around, you introduced yourself and you went back in and sat with my wife and I as we ate.
" Hey Andrew, see that guy behind you eating? That's The Colonel, Bruce Hampton".

Hey Dan...:)
Well. This is your thread and I only mentioned my musical bucket list here as you suggested we all do our own bucket list and you made me realize that I have been able to get few notable ones out of the way. I did not want to take away from the emphasis being on you.
I actually mentioned meeting you and Mary Ann in my first trip to Macon thread a few years ago:
http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthread&tid=108649#pid
If you don't mind me sharing, here is an excerpt featuring my meeting you and Mary Ann:
**************************************************************
...The visit with my brother (in Florida) was just wonderful, with trips to the beach, a visit with his daughter and new grandson, long overdue face to face conversations, music , Crown Royal cocktails next to and while floating in his pool, and a trip to the Kennedy Space Center. I left regretfully around 5AM on Thursday 7/15, as I knew I had to be back home in Ohio Saturday morning. But with luck, I would be able to hit Macon sometime around 12 Noon, and do a quick tour.
Well. It was a longer drive than I thought, and I actually arrived in Macon around 1:30. I was starving so my first stop had to be the H&H. Thanks to the map, I knew exactly where it was. It was hard to make a decision as everything on the menu looked great but I ended up having fried chicken, collared greens, creamed corn, black eyed peas, corn bread, and lemonade.
Manna from heaven.
After checking out the ABB related and other music memorabilia on the walls, I went to the cash register to pay my bill (which is actually towards the back of the kitchen for some reason), and there in a chair was Mama Louise herself!
I introduced myself and told her why I was visiting, mentioning her ties to the ABB and also told her how much I enjoyed my meal. I’m sure she has heard it all before many times, but she was very gracious and said to come back soon. And how nice to meet someone who has had so much to do with the band’s early history!
As I was leaving the H, a man and woman walked by me heading into the restaurant. I only caught a glimpse of the man as he walked by, but from the picture that I’ve seen of him on the ABB site, I knew that it had to be TanDan ! I called out his name and sure enough, it was TanDan and his wife Mary Ann!
They were on their way to a concert for their son (which was the prior engagement he had told me about that had prevented us from getting together) and had decided at the last minute to make a side trip to the H&H to eat along the way.
Some folks may say it was mere coincidence, but what are the odds that they would be walking in at the exact time that I was walking out. Five seconds later and we would have missed each other entirely.
As we both discussed later, it was just meant to be and I happily walked back in with them so we could chat while they ate. Dan pointed out Col Bruce Hampton who was also there eating but I decided that I did not want to disturb him. It was enough to be within speaking distance.
Even though they were on a tight schedule, TanDan and Mary Ann wife graciously gave me a quick mini tour of two ABB sites not on my map which were the sites where Duane and Berry died (a bit of an emotional experience for me) and the old mansion on College St where the band took the picture for album #1. (Dan took a picture of me leaning on the pillar in homage). We also swapped pictures in front of the old Capricorn Records offices. It was very nice of them to take the time and I thank them both again. ...
***************************************************************************
It was so nice to be able to meet you in person and spend some time with the two of you, even though it had to be brief due to your prior commitment. But it was very nice of you to take the time anyway and it was the highlight of what was already a wonderful mini vacation...:D

Don't let us get sick
Don't let us get old
Don't let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight
The sky was on fire
When I walked to the mill
To take up the slack in the line
I thought of my friends
And the troubles they've had
To keep me from thinking of mine
Don't let us get sick
Don't let us get old
Don't let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight
The moon has a face
And it smiles on the lake
And causes the ripples in time
I'm lucky to be here
With someone I like
Who maketh my spirit to shine
Don't let us get sick
Don't let us get old
Don't let us get stupid, all right?
Just make us be brave
And make us play nice
And let us be together tonight
