Playin some Duane today

Brother Duane RIP. Him and his band changed my world many, many years ago.
Nothing like him.
What a remarkable cat he was.

Two Thumbs Up

Nice - put me in mind to dig out Ton Ton Macoute, some Down Along the Cove!

Playing the box set At Fillmore East with Bobby Caldwell on Liz Reed and You Don't Love Me. The extra congas sounds like the Butch/Marc/Jaimoe backline playing with the original band!

Would love to know more about their show from 50 years ago last Saturday - Oct 26, 1969 Boston Common (according to database)
Didn’t think the concerts on the common extended that far into autumn, but could be wrong
They might’ve just set up & played-impromptu
Thank you always for the music, brother Duane - listening to side 3, Anthology II - Walk on Gilded Splinters brah

Was listening to Hot Lanta from Fillmore West 1/31/71. My God the tempo is so fast compared to the version we know so well from AFE. I guess the vitamin C was flowing that night.
The more I listen to this whole box set the more I like it.
The ABB. Whats not to like?

Playing Live at the Fillmore East.

Duane Allman Anthology Volume 1 for me. Great live version of Don't Keep Me Wondering that didn't make it on Fillmore East and of course Statesboro Blues. Hey Jude by Wilson Picket and Goin' Down Slow with Duane singing and Berry on bass and Johnny Sandlin on drums are some of my favorites.
48 years. I was having breakfast when NBC News came on the Today Show anchored by Frank Blair and he said something like " A member of the famed Allman Brothers Band was killed in a motorcycle crash. Duane Allman was 24 years old. "

Hell Yeah!!!

Listening to Idlewild South

Listening to Idlewild South

In several interviews Gregg Allman said Idlewild South was his favorite all studio ABB album. Said all of the tracks were keepers, no fillers. Said when it died on the vine like the first album selling just a very modest amount, he began to really doubt the band was going to make it but his brother was not fazed at all and said " The next one will be live. Get that natural fire we have on stage on a record".
Idlewild South eventually did sell over 500,000 and go gold but much of that was in 1973 with the first and second albums repackaged as "Beginnings".
