For $15 I figure this has got to be worth the trek out to the Santa Cruz mountains tonight. Neil Young's ex-wife with Spooner Oldham on keys..........also Shonna Tucker on bass (former Drive-By Truckers). Take a look at Oldham's discography...........kinda mind-boggling:

Review to come..........

Peggi with her Alabama gang! Kelvin Holley is one helluva a guitarist! He's also been Little Richard's musical director/guitarist for years. Any opportunity to see him is an opportunity not to be missed! GO!

It was a very good show. Pegi is a good performer and she laid down a very jumpin' one hour twenty minute set which I would describe as not straight rock, not straight country..........a cross between the two. Very upbeat and I've got some video to come. Of course there a couple of heartbreaking tunes...........who wouldn't have some anger at someone who leaves after 37 years of marriage? But that didn't dominate the show.

Very, VERY strong band. Talked to Spooner Oldham after the show.........what a soft spoken and humble guy. He was really in the background musically.........but just to be up there doing it at age 73 is very, very admirable. The first picture is Spooner and me. Also talked to Kelvin Holley very briefly and mentioned what Rusty said, "Little Richard's musical director." He said, "Yes, I was with him for 20 years, got to see the entire world. He doesn't play anymore, can't even walk." Another really nice guy. His playing just blew me away.
