Peach Fest reviews

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the great festival in Scranton PA. First, I LOVE this venue! The fact that in addition to all the great music one can take advantage of the water park, Zip line and ski lift is such a great add to the overall experience. Especially when its 90 degrees Watching Butch and Friends or Les Bres as they are now called dancing in the wave pool with 100 Peachheads is a pretty cool expereince.lol.
To the music, some people cant deal with them, but I LOVE Dark Star Orchestra!! DSO resurrected 4/27/77 . Man they are so good at bringing these shows back to life, had not seen them in about a yr or so ad they blew me away. The Phil bombs n Morning Dew , the Scarlet/Fire/Good Lovin trifecta that had everyone dancing on air to the fillers at the end of the show Not Fade Away and Going down the Road feelin Bad because the guys wanted to take up every bit of time they had which equated to roughly almost 4 hrs. Awesome way to start the festival. Then the walk over to the Mushroom stage at about midnight for Deep banana Blackout. If you have not seen or heard this band, they r a must. I first discovered them at the Vibes in 02 or 03 and have loved them ever since. They bring the funk all night long and we were grooving into the wee hrs.
Day 2 is when things really started to pick up momentum. First band we saw was Blues Traveler. Havent seen these guys in many yrs and have not been following them. They put on a great set, a bunch of stuff from their new album which I thought was really good, and of course their big hits. Sounded very tight and I hope they keep the pedal to the metal out there. Fun time. After some trips down a few water slides and lazy river (hilarious scene of hippies riding down a river in tubes with drinks and joints being passed around) we caight Jaimo's Jazz Band. So good every time I see them and with Jack sitting in it really was great. Loved the Liz Reed, obviously. SO about about 6:30 we headed back over to the main stage where we would spend the rest of the night. And oh what a night it was.
Joe Russo's Almost Dead was first up. If u r a fan of the Dead, these guys just flat out jam. They were not on for long but made the most of every minute. Viola Lee Blues was epic!! I mean I could not contain myself.LOL Awesome band that I will catch anytime they r in the area. Nxt up was Warren and Rail Road Earth. Warren is so amazing, he just morphs into the bands he plays with. You would have thought these guys were playing for years. Great album which I had not heard yet which they played a good portion of. Highlight for me was Blue Sky . We watched Warren from the lawn while the sun was setting. Very cool. Moved back into the pavilion for Gregg. I have not seen the man this happy and animated on stage in years. I mean he was out front with a guitar more then behind the organ. Talking to the crowd, howling into the mic at times. Just great to see him so happy. Voice was as strong as ever too. Having Jack and Warren sit in a bit was Allman bliss. His band is no joke as would be expected and cant wait to see him with the Doobies next Friday Played a solid Allman selection with a few solo hits sprinkled in. Great set! The late night band that I caught on the main stage was Aussie Floyd. Suffuce to say if u can get past the fact that these guys r not Gilmour and Waters and just enjoy the show, again its a band that will blow u away. Someone said they had bought some of Floyds old props etc. Not sure if its true but they had alot of lasers, props and images that u would expect to see at a Floyd how. The band was fantastic and the singers were very dead on. The 2 women background singers were unbelievable. That ended somewhere after 2am LOL.
OK I am at work , will add more later. Hope y'all dont mind the long babbling

Glad to hear the new stuff sounded good live, because I think the album is horrible. All of the special guests were not needed. They are going to be here in Chattanooga next week and was hoping they wouldn't focus too much on the new album.

totally agree with all you said nypeach and I'll add that I've never seen Greg so animated onstage since the '70's and he wouldn't let Jack leave the stage. Personally I loved Aussie Floyd & thought they were close to the original,I think it was closer to 2:30 am when they ended.Rusted Root were incredible on the Mushroom stage the next day & I hope they become a regular. They were a great warmup, along with Dumpstaphunk to Les Brers' who were tight, especially for their 1st gig. Billy & the Kids were great and Willie was...well..Willie & didn't disappoint. I had to drag myself away from the Bob Weir show to get up the mountain for the Lotus midnight show. What a crowd up there and light show. There were also some great locals too with Flux Capacitor who mesmerized us.Cabinet played 3 times this year,I thought the Sat midnight show was best.Pigions Playing Pingpong were great as were Tauk and Hard Working Americans.Holloway's midnight show was ok too but I was hoping Warren would join in. Santana brought the house down on Sunday though I and others didn't appreciate his sons rap. Best of all was the camping atmosphere and waterpark. There's not too many festivals like this on a waterpark. We enjoyed standing in the wave pool cooling down & enjoying Blues Traveller,Les Brers,Rusted Root and the others. I could go on but what a great festival & didn't want it all to end.

Just went Friday and Saturday and it was a lot of fun, I'd like to go again and enjoy even more as I know what to expect. Lots of smiles and fun.
Arrived as JRAD was playing, I agree they are a great band. One complaint is that a big screen or two would be nice, when watching from the lawn it is like you are hanging out with a bunch of cool people while there is a concert going on down below under the tent but you are not really at that concert. Doesn't suck and I guess you could say open the wallet and go VIP but...
The rest of the night watched form in the tent or under the roof whatever. Warren and RRE were great and the Blue Sky was a nice touch. Warren always seems to give it his all. I had seen Gregg about a year ago and was impressed and was just as impressed Friday night. For Aussie PF we watched from the 100s as many had left (many remained too), and it was a whole lot of fun.
Saturday was really packed and again a lot of fun on the lawn. I guess after Chicago July 4th there is a lot of interest in the Dead and this is the heart of the East Coast. Also, caught the end of Butch's set, really wild, the keyboard player especially was crazed.
