Anyone checked this crime drama series out on Netflix ?

I binge watched the entire thing in 2 or 3 days and wow, quite a little show.

Not a totally unique idea or premise, but well worth checking out.

Good news on Wiki: The series was renewed for a 10-episode second season on August 15, 2017.

i started watching it and really like the acting and cinematography.

the story line i found dark. not sure if it was going to improve after 3 episodes and i'm trying to limit my negativity input.

bateman is excellent in it though. love him and his character.

I bailed about halfway through the first episode.

Probably unwise and I'm interested in revisiting, but it plodded along and I just felt like I had seen this type of show before.

sully - not wanting to spoil it for you, but your suspicions are correct about the dark story line and the fact that it does not improve from there.

It does pickup and get more interesting with multiple story lines with the different characters, not all pleasant trust me.

I don't know, I liked it and maybe it was because it was Bateman and certainly the locale.

I binged watched the whole thing as well in just a few days/evenings. I prolly need to do so again to pick up on things I missed the first time.

The first episode in Chicago is more of a pilot or plot-builder, necessary for the rest of the season. I think the story line picks up and develops well after they move to the Ozarks.

Most, if not all, of the scenes shot in the Ozarks are actually shot in north Atlanta area. The lake scenes are mostly Allatoona Lake, with some on Lake Lanier. The indoor shooting (restaurants, etc.) are largely done in Peachtree Corners/Norcross area not too far from where I live. Some interesting tidbits here:

i really enjoyed the way that bateman's character spoke very pragmatically with everyone from the cartel to the rednecks. it was a courageous kind of not give a shit, here's the scoop way of talking. made me wish i could speak that way without consequence.

i've become a wimp in my viewing ways. stop GOT a few seaons ago, can't get through Breaking Bad, etc. All of these great shows I just can't stomach anymore. doesn't sit right with my soul.

I started after reading this thread. I like it so far except for the homo porn. Is it really necessary that the FBI guys be queers and do we really need to see it? I was interested enough to FF through the first encounter but I am only on episode 5 so it is going to come up again and again and I am not sure I can stomach that. Sorry, tie me to the whippin post, send me to the play pen, I don't care. Just can not imagine that it is necessary for the plot. More of requirement it seems these days to have that kind of crap in there.

I watched the first 4 episodes Sat night and 2 more last night. Very intriguing.

I really like serial shows (The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul etc) and I've been a big fan of Bateman's since Arrested Development. It is interesting how his character here is kind of a cross between his role in that comedy with something like Walter White / Breaking Bad mixed.

Can't wait to watch more tonight!

Just started watching this yeasterday. Pretty dark stuff, but it got me hooked ,for now. Three episodes in so far.

I really dont know alot of Jason Batemans work, but he is doing a stellar job, and Laura Linney is always very solid.

Sometimes I have a hard time getting into series, but this one caught me from the start.

I love the first season of Saul, tried watching the next, just cant get into it. Bob Odenkirk
was born to play that role. He is underrated in my opinion. I am not a big tv watcher, but Netflix has a lot to choose from. Kind of overwhelming! 😛 😉

Gay people exist even in the FBI.

They are not having the discrimination any more either.

Haven't watched yet but just put it on my list.

Any hetero porn I should be looking out for?

Just finished it up yesterday. Very impressed. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I really liked it. Some very strong character acting. Bateman has done an outstanding job.

Not much if any. Nothing I'd call porn. there is female nudity though so be careful 😉 .

No doubt, gay people exist and I have no problem with them at all. I just prefer not to watch them do it. If they need to imply it for the story, fine. Just don't need it so graphically displayed.

I finished the first season this weekend and I did like it. Had to FF 3 or 4 times over 10 episodes to miss the parts I didn't want to see. I suspect that the first encounter was the most graphic and had it been omitted wouldn't have been bothered by the rest. Though I may be wrong as I didn't see much of the subsequent encounters.

In spite of all that it did keep my interest quite well. As said above Jason Bateman, Laura Linney and most of the cast did fantastic jobs with their roles. Writing is very good. I look forward to the next installments. Anyone have any idea when they will become available?

Without spoiling anything, I will add that I finished Season One and was pleased that the quality stayed consistent overall.

Some serial shows drop the ball, or can't handle the season finale. This show did a good job in terms of offering a certain amount of satisfaction while leaving plenty of issues to be addressed in Season Two etc.

As far as when it returns, I just read this:

Season 2 Netflix Release Date

Although we’re relying on guess work here a little, it’s possible to predict a timeframe for the second season. Other Netflix Originals in the same genre as Ozark seem to be released on Netflix in an annual fashion, albeit some have a margin of error of one or two months on either side. Given this, we think it’s realistic to expect that season 2 of Ozark will be releasing on Netflix around July 2018.
