Anyone know if there are any plans to put One More Try
back in print ?? I played it constantly for a couple years.

I see a number of nuggets from that disc
made it to the deluxe Laid Back.

And now they want outrageous $$ for it on eBay.

I doubt that specific collection will ever be reprinted, but my guess is some of the music will be re-packaged in some form just as they have been for the deluxe Laid Back re-release. I still listen to a it regularly, especially the Gregg solo acoustic material.

It has always been expensive since it was pulled from production. I don't have it in front of me but from what I recall is that Kirk did the photography and that Gregg or the person that produced it didn't like it so it was out of print. I want to say it was Gregg.

I think I paid like $50 or $60 for it right after it was out of print. Crazy what it going for now.

Alan Paul has mentioned that he and Kirk worked on it for a long time and that Gregg had it pulled (paraphrasing here). Gregg had gone on record over the years regarding his dislike of releasing half-finished material, and was even critical of the ABB's first album. Quite the perfectionist.

I think I bought my copy the day it came out since that was a dead time for ABB releases.

Yes Gregg wasn't happy with the first ABB album. Gregg thought it could have been polished a bit more and was a little miffed that Dickey refused to record when they got to the studio in New York because of no windows. Adrian Barber was introduced as their producer and they were expecting Tom Dowd. The big thing though was the vocals. Gregg wanted to redo all the lead vocals but the album was released before Gregg could get an opening. They did do the chant for Blackhearted Woman where all 6 band members do it together and they left Berry Oakley breaking up at the end of the chant in the mix. It was Gregg's song and maybe he wasn't sure Barber's decision to do that was best. Also Gregg was a little disappointed how the band radically changed Whipping Post from how he wrote it. Berry Oakley came up with a new intro and Butch changed the time for the song and as the band played it live the guitar solos kept getting longer and longer. All the things the fans liked about the song:)

I am with you! I bought it the day it came out. Waited, waited, and waited.
Loved the photos and the liner notes. Thought the whole thing was really well done.
It IS really well done !

Sent a copy to SlideJules
cause he had no way to get one, couldn't afford it. RIP SlideJules.

Bought a backup copy just a few years ago for 29.00.

$200 now crikey!

Love the GA acoustic stuff, he is a unique picker.
Wish there were more of that.
Yes gotta think Scott or someone rolled more tape on
stuff like that than has seen the light of day.

I remember hunting down a mid 80's GAF show just to get a couple
impromptu acoustic tunes.

GA put out a few well produced duds over the years, no reason not to
put out great soulful music with a few whatever moments...
but I digress.

I thought the decision to pull it also factored on it being released on the revived Capricorn label and Gregg's dissatisfaction with Phil Walden and how Gregg perceived Capricorn had treated the band.

Also got it the day it came out. I guess I should have grabbed a few extra copies.
