No more Ben Ratliff ABB reviews!

Sorry to see the ABB go but happy that I will not have to read another passive-aggressive snark piece on the Allmans by Ben Ratliff. His review today had the usual snide comments and attempts to pass off contempt as objective-disinterested "reporting." Seems like the NY Times kept sending a guy who clearly does not like the ABB or their fans to review ABB shows as some form of punishment. Did he cost the NYT a sponser? Sleep with the editor's wife? Forget to adequately praise Clive Davis? I guess we'll never know. Just happy I won't have to read his childish reviews anymore.

i thought the review was reasonably accurate having been there last night....i suppose you would like a review from a member of the board instead who would do nothing but praise everything?I thought the review was fair

I don't see the snark. It's a very nice review. He says the show was a "thrill" and talks about "tension and drama" in the music, praises the guitar playing and Gregg's singing. It's written in the Times style, which is going to be more detached than Relix or Rolling Stone, but there's nothing negative here. (If you feel Ratliff hates the band and writes bad reviews of them I'm not sure why you keep reading those reviews, but hey.)

i thought review was very favorable and interesting. anyhow, too good a vibe right now to care. trying to get through work today after 2 late nights. heading straight to bed after work, do not pass go!!!

Can someone post the review or a link?

Personally I was grateful to read a review by a seasoned critic that was able to articulate the nights musical proceedings without reference to the word epic. At least that much was made evident in the review itself. The objectivity and insight was much appreciated. Unfortunately axmans comments are a failure of epic proportions.
