Nice writeup on Derek and TTB from Billboard

Looking forward to what this year brings for Derek and their band.

Bummed they won't be at Wanne, but maybe I'll manage to catch them at Vibes (or hopefully another mini Beacon run). Psyched for another album.
"It's really a band record this time," Trucks says, adding that Bramhall was "thrown into the mix quite a bit" during the sessions.
Ugh, I hope not. He's a solid guitarist, but he added nothing to DTB's Already Free album. I find him super boring.

isn't that the one DTB won a Grammy for. I think he may have collaborated more than we know with Derek. He seems to be a great musician...at least Clapton & Waters thought so. Sometimes those background musicians have a lot more influence than we'll ever know here on the outside.

TTB's Revelator won a Grammy, not sure if dTb's Already Free won anything - not that Grammys are the measure of quality music. I'm sure he knows his stuff and is talented (his dad was a bandmate of SRV and others), I just can't say I'm a fan. Anytime he sings on Already Free comes I can't skip skip fast enough - his voice is really underwhelming to me, he's like a dull John Mayer to me. "Our Love" and "Maybe This Time" both put me to sleep and it's all his voice, especially "Maybe This Time" - there are times he sounds like he's never sung before. That song sounds stuck in the mud to me whenever he starts singing. I don't mean to rag on the guy, just personal taste - everyone has those musicians that just don't click.

Already Free won a Grammy..

k,I get it. Sometimes there's just musicians or actors that we dislike. There's some I feel that way...David LEE Roth for one. But yeh,DTB did win a Grammy for that...the 'only' Grammy they won,but it was their final album,so who knows where they would have gone.
It sounds like TTB's going to mix it up a lot more this album too...could get interesting.

Looking forward to it.
Made Up Mind was clearly a leap forward from Revalator (although I like Revalator too), and they've been growing since

Nice interview / cover pic of Derek in a local / CT freebie music mag called SOUNDS also.
