On first listen it seems a lot more jazzy than their first album.

Were these guys at this years Mountain Jam? Seems I recall Steph Scamarto mentioning what a blazing set they performed there when she was chatting with Chris Robinson over the air on Sirius Jam On channel during their coverage of the festival this past year. I think they both mentioned what an incredible musician Marcus King is.....From what they described this kid is the next guitar god and songwriting prodigy.

I heard a track from this band last week on Sirius The Loft and really enjoyed it. I assume it was from the new album....

So ... Chris Robinson and Stefani are pals? I thought they had a tiff when New Earth Mud opened for The Mule. WNCW has been playing a track of the new Marcus King CD. Horns, kinda gruff vocals, and nice jazzy guitar. What's not to like? I believe Marcus is the latest act out of Spartanburg. Say what you will there must be something in the water down in Spakle City. There's some awful good music came outta there. 😉

I thought that was odd too. Actually I think the issue was she was managing Chris Robinson at the time and they had a blow up over that.

I just caught these guys in a tiny bar Monday and hung with the guys during the Cubs game. Super talented band and really chill guys. I think they said they're from Greenville, SC. Marcus is the real deal, on all fronts.

Just listened to it on his website, pretty good stuff! "Devil's Land" and "Virginia" being one my favorites. Really cool to hear Derek and Warren on the album as well. "Virginia" will be going on a repeat playlist very soon...

I am no audio engineer but does anyone else think the mix is kind of "thin" or odd sounding? This could be from streaming it from his website or my little POS earbuds I keep here at work but then again I am no audio engineer. Anyways, dude rocks, can't wait til he comes around these parts to see him live.

If Warren, Susan, Mike Mattison, and Grace Potter all got together and made a baby , Marcus King is what you would get.....

Apparently whatever issues they had back in the day are now water under the bridge as they were hamming it up and having a grand time while sharing the mic for Sirius. So much so I had a sneaking suspicion they were both imbibing in a little this a little that. They were having a lot of fun.

It was quite entertaining as while not only commenting as the various artists on the bill and their sets, they also shared stories of the music business, crazy tours of days past, some of their favorite artists, etc...

After further listening, I actually like their debut album better than this one.

I like the first record but think this one is leaps and bounds better. I have been wearing it out over the last week and after seeing them perform both old and new material live last Thursday I can easily say that they have moved right into my top five favorite current bands.

The band headlined GABBAFEST a few weeks ago and they tore it up. I was stunned listening to their set.

I get to see them tomorrow evening in Augusta, GA.....

They are one of the band that represent the future of music 😛
