New Jeff Beck album

Ok, I heard it at a pool party late last night, so my perception was skewed, but I was digging it!!!
I love Jeff Beck, but I think the last of his "new" stuff I really listened to a lot was Guitar Shop and Roger Waters' Amused To Death. I have bought every Beck album, but I really didn't like his "techno" albums. I may not have listened to them enough, but they didn't grab me. They were full of sound and fury but signified nothing. I thought his Emotion and Commotion had very good stuff on it, his best in years, but felt kind of sterile in terms of production and also very disjointed. I mean, there is "eclectic" and then there is "not cohesive."
But this new one seems to work. It still has very modern studio magic, ordinarily not my cup of tea. It has a lot of the kind of whammy bar squalling that I associate with 80s hair metal. It ain't "Rock my Plimsoul." But it has huge riffs, catchy funk, a band that coheres, and Beck is on FIRE. It even has some melodies that are still in my head today.

Dont get the new Jeff Beck album. Ive seen the two girls he's taken on board and I thought they were very ordinary. The Singer has a terrible Mockney accent and despite being quite easy on the eye the guitarist is nothing to write home about. They have a trendy/hip following though so i can see why Jeff might tap into that I guess.

Was VERY disappointed with the show we saw at CMAC.
The hip hop chick singer was awful.
So was Jimmy Hall.
Glad Buddy Guy opened, at least we got our money's worth there.
We left early and we weren't the only ones.
