I got a hold of Dickey at home to discuss Gregg's comments and other things.

Nice work, Al. Informative and clear and timely.

How is it that the Wall Street Journal has excellent music coverage?

I'd hate to think that Dickey Betts would ever stop playing guitar.

Glad you enjoyed.

They have great ABB coverage because of... me. But they really do have excellent music coverage overall... and debut lots of cool music on speakeasy, where this ran. Worth checking out regularly.

I'd hate to think that Dickey Betts would ever stop playing guitar.

Agreed. I thought the possibility was the real headline here.

Sure he does... these are business deals, basically.. not sure an online petition would get it done.

That's a pretty informative interview & responses - especially the last question & answer. That certainly gives hope and is more than rumor. Good stuff, Alan!

Yes, I certainly agree that this was the potentially big headline. It is hard for us ABB fans to imagine that someone who can play the guitar like Dickey Betts would actually consider not playing. I would imagine Dickey has been privately going through quite an emotional roller coaster for this to remain on his radar screen. I wonder if some of the goings on with Gregg are a reach out to a friend.

Thank you so much Al Paul for getting the ball rolling for a possible reunion of Gregg and Dickey.
I'd also love to see an all-star Dickey Betts tribute concert with Dickey, Gregg, Chuck Leavell, Derek and Susan, Warren, Great Southern, etc. Somebody should call Don Was and do this! And I bet Dickey might come out of retirement for something like this.

I'm all for the Allman Betts Band but the ABB should remain capped by the fabulous October finale!!
