New Clapton Live Album From Tour With Derek

Anyway The Wind Blows with JJ Cale
Acclaimed guitarist Eric Clapton has announced the upcoming release of a new double live album. The 2-CD/3-LP Live In San Diego With Special Guest J.J. Cale will be released on Reprise/Bushbranch Records on September 30.
Recorded live on March 15, 2007 at iPayOne Center in San Diego, the show saw special guest guitarist, the late great J.J. Cale sit-in on a number of songs. Cale can be heard on cuts from the joint album he and Clapton released in 2006 The Road to Escondido, such as “Anyway the Wind Blows,” “Who Am I Telling You?” and “Don’t Cry Sister.” Cale also assisted on his “After Midnight” and “Cocaine.”
The show that featured a band composed of guitarists Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II, drummer Steve Jordan and others, also saw guitarist Robert Cray sit-in on the closing “Crossroads.” Watch the Cale-assisted rendition of “Anyway The Wind Blows” here:

Great news! I'd given up hope of an official release from that tour surfacing. I have a couple good boots - but nothing that will likely match the sound quality of the official release.

That is really cool! Too bad there isn't video to go with it.

They filmed this, I know I saw cameras on the stage.

I will be picking this up.
Unfortunately it looks like there will not be a DVD release, just a CD.

I too have a couple great boots also , but there's nothing like an official release!!! Can't wait@!!

Great news. Odd that there will be no DVD. Is the DVD market dead?
This release had been an odd omission, at the time particularly. It seemed like Clapton was in a real streak of releasing live stuff and videos as he worked through the 2000s. I'm glad he's finally releasing SOMEthing from this line-up.

looking forward to this.
rumor this won't be on dvd either because the clapton dvd anthology is finally coming out soon. another dvd will be released or cale's family didn't want it to be

Thanks for the great news............this can only be a wonderful disc. Caught the tour in San Jose.

I am. So. Stoked. For this.
Can't wait.

looking forward to this release...saw the tour in Philly

Looking forward to this one. Wish there would be a way to add a couple bonus tracks of "Thorn Tree in The Garden" and "Why Does Love Have to Be So Sad" from another show. Those were two Dominoes classics that Clapton, DT and band played elegantly.
Saw this tour in B'ham. Fantastic. Rusty & Donna hosted Randy Bup, PatCrenshaw and some other brothers & sisters at their home before we all headed to the show. (I'm thinking Lefty & LeAnn part of that crew too).

Ill bet a DVD is in the works for this.
Maybe so.

Not likely. In the link I posted above it stated...
" The concert was filmed for DVD release, but Clapton’s New York press representative said on Friday morning that there will not be a DVD of the show"

EC just made a record catch while fishing in Iceland -- according to internet
this live album will smoke

This peaks my interest somewhat with the exception I'm not keen on the J.J. Cale sit in tracks. I know it may be blasphemy to some but ... J.J. Cale can write a song however we'd all be more familiar with the various covers of his tunes. All of which are better than the original IMO. I might've gone seen him in a bar. I wouldn't have paid to see him in concert. The whole thing about this CD is Clapton, Derek, Willie Weeks, Steve Jordan. The JJ tracks just interrupt this for me. I could be wrong ...

Eric Clapton just caught a record-setting salmon in Iceland, and for one moment, everything is okay in the world
