I read Billy Blastoff's post about King Curtis and he mentions the Soul Serenade intro on the A & R recording, which got me to thinking (look out! *laugh*)...

Info on the "new" A&R studio release is that it has been remixed (not always a good thing, as we know) and that it is on the ABB's "label." What label? Does anyone have any info that can shed any light on this?

I don't want to sucked into another bait & switch for something that I already own multiple version of unless there really is some compelling reason to do so...thanks in advance.

Hey Rich, it really does sound better to my ears. Bill Levenson remixed it and you can tell. He has a knack for making those ABB tapes sound a lot better, just like the Fillmore East box set that came out last year. This remix came straight from the 8-track session tapesfrom the radio station. And it is on the new Allman Brothers Band recording label. And wha makes it even more special for me is they used one of the Duane images I have in the booklet and I got my name in there! That alone makes it a must buy! Smile

Yes, it does! That is fantastic, Wayne. Actually if it wasn't for Bill Levenson I don't think ANY of these reissues would have happened. We all owe him a debt of gratitude - and I agree, his work on the ABB's stuff is nothing short of outstanding and it is very apparent that he really cares about promoting and preserving their legacy. There is no way the Fillmore East box would have happened without his involvement.

Congrats on being involved. Are there any other projects on the horizon?

What's the scoop on the new label? I'll be the first to say that I've been out of the loop (WAY out) but this is the first I've heard about it. Who's in charge, making the decisions about what to release, etc.? Let's face it, the ABB and their "management" 's track record regarding these matters has been spotty, if not checkered, over the years, to say the least...

Thanks for the info, Shavian. Like I said, I've been WAY out of the loop - for way too long, and obviously I missed this. I really appreciate you edumacating me, as Popeye would say...

They need to release May 17, 2005 Cool

The mix on the release of 8/26/71 is a little
more mellower sounding to me, listened to
the Traded version through headphones,
then the new release, not a lot of **major***
differences, Volume brought up and sound equalized,
if you feel you got to have it, grab it up an spin it ,
Great stuff either way Cool

The past few years have been rocky for me, to say the least, but at the end of the (sometimes) very long day, I am a survivor....hope you all and your families have been well.
