New ARU Show On Archive

Brothers and sisters, the time of blessed abundance is upon us!

There will be many more recordings popping up online as the ARU reunion tour progresses. This was a one-off show with the Paul Reed Smith Band.
Oh, did I mention this show has John McLaughlin sitting in? With Aquarium Rescue Unit? THE John McLaughlin?

Hoping for a live release from this tour.

Thanks Rob!
Jimmy is ripping up "Working on a Building".

This show is amazing!
The crowd should be gagged though. As a public service... when you go to a concert, STFU!!!

Nice!

Thanks for posting! That was great.
"directed by veteran rock photographer/filmmaker Andy Tennille" - that name rings a bell from the Spreadnet listserv days!!!

Thanks for posting the link to the archive-
Also good quality youtube of the entire show:
Part 1:
Part 2:

My goodness, this Time Is Free with McLaughlin is really good stuff! Just electric, mind-altering music. The other real standout is Space Is The Place with McLaughlin and Dennis Chambers on drums. At one point you can hear Oteil say "Sometimes dreams really do come true." I'm sure it was a joy for ARU to share the stage with these jazz legends.
The first half of the show doesn't have the wild energy I'm accustomed to hearing from ARU, but I shouldn't have worried. Some rust is inevitable for even the greatest bands when you haven't played together in a while. Once McLaughlin hits the stage, they take it to another level and stay there for the rest of the show. That ineffable ARU magic is still there, it just took a few songs to wake up the monster.
Only 57 days to the Atlanta show!
