Neil Young and Crazy Horse do "Born In The U.S.A."

Not much of a Bruce fan here but I thought Neil & Co. rocked this one pretty damn hard. This was a tribute show where Springsteen received a MusiCares Person of The Year award for 2013. Look for "Tribute to Bruce Springsteen" on PBS in your cable guide. I DVR'd it last Saturday night but I assume they'll show it again. It certainly has it's moments..........crazy list of guest artists. Patti Smith does Because The Night. John Legend, solo piano/vocals, doing Dancing In The Dark was really nice. Elton John, Emmylou Harris, Mavis Staples, Jackson Browne, Sting, Zac Brown, etc., etc.

Thanks so much for posting this. Bruce is my favorite artist of all time.
And Neil is probably second, just ahead of the ABB. 😮
Weird seeing Neil is his disheveled look and all the crowd in suits and nice dresses.
Cool to see Neil hug Nils Lofgren at the end of the clip. I would LOVE to see those guys play together.
Finally, what the hell was the chick on stage in the Stanford (I guess) cheerleader uniform doing?

Thank you for posting that. I think.

Neil....too funny.
Anyone seen the John Candy movie Canadian Bacon, where they sing this song?

There were actually TWO chicks in cheerleader uniforms. I thought the same thing at first.........what are THEY doing? I think it was to give a feel for the Born In The U.S.A theme which revolves around the Vietnam War era..............you grew up with U.S. tradition........you know, high school football, Mom and apple pie..............then,
Got in a little hometown jam
They put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill
The yellow man
It all ties in..........I get the cheerleader thing.

I dunno. I watched it a few times. I guess it wouldn't surprise me if Neil was making a statement to the song since Bruce was in the audience. They are on the same page as far as that stuff goes.
Great rendition of the song though.
I can't believe it has been 30 years since that was released! Put him back in the spotlight after Born to Run came out.

Watched this the other night, enjoyed it.
Lots of good covers, this was probably my favorite.
Bruce is well worth the money, one of my favorite live acts

Neil performs at times with folks doing sign language. Believe because of the communication issues his son Ben has.
