A chick with balls! And I love the message in this tune: "Now the reason we're here...........a man and a woman.............is to love one another............take care of each other........."

I love Chrissie and saw the Pretenders many times. Even saw them open for Neil Young at Chastain.

But, my vote for favorite female rocker lands solidly on Patti Smith. Heck, she might be my favorite rocker period. Patti Smith is a powerful force of raw emotion. Even her poetry readings send me.

I really like the first two "Pretenders" albums with James Honeyman-Scott on guitar ... such a unique sound at the time ...

That first record, "Pretenders" (1978 if I'm not mistaken), was somewhat groundbreaking IMO. I don't ever remember any female rock artist (and VERY few men) before that record talking that blatantly about sex in a tune, especially a tune which was getting a LOT of airplay. And the entire record is good. They weren't really punk like The Sex Pistols or The Clash but they fit in perfectly with the no-frills rock 'n' roll approach of that era. Plus you had a hard-edged chick fronting the band which of course made them unique.

love her.she was my 67 year old dad's favorite.Saw her open for the Who blew them away.Ragged on Dylan an audience member booed her but after her set she took the time to go over and talk to the guy.Wouldn't leave the stage until she new the guy forgave her.Niow that is class.

She was picking on Dylan's voice not his songwriting. Most people laughed,

She has a beautiful voice...one of the best female rock singers, hands down.

I have her new solo release , it's pretty solid.

Neil Young plays on this tune.

Great stylist. One of a kind singer. That is what it is all about. There are a zillion women with powerful voices who can hit a zillion notes, but what this woman does with her instrument is so unique.

I was in college in 1980 in Boston, the Pretenders did their first US Tour and played at the Boston Orpheum two nights... this was the original first band. Amazing band.
