When I was in Toronto recently I came across this new Marshall Tucker Band
live CD. It appears to be on the band's own label. What I want to know is whether
this is just a re-release of `Stompin' Room Only'. The cut with Dickey, `The Thrill
Is Gone' from Volunteer Jam is absent but there is a version of `Will The Circle
Be Unbroken' on it......any insight would be appreciated.

No it is not Stompin Room. There may be some crossover there but I am not sure. Though I must admit I was so bummed still about the quality of the 76 Englishtown one that Doug Gray released that I have not picked this up yet.

I don't believe its the King Biscuit. That I think was from Birmingham Odeon on 11/29/1976 and slyckyr's post shows the places for this. The 24 Hours At A Time looks like it came from the King Biscuit though.

Nope. It's from several different shows on the '76 UK tour, not one single show. Sounds quality varies from show to show, but nowhere near as execrable as the sound on that Englishtown release - Doug Gray should be ashamed for trying to foist that off on the MTB fan base.

1. Long Hard Ride Palace Theater Manchester 12/2/76
2. Take The Highway Apollo Theater Glasgow 12/1/76
3. Hillbilly Band Glasgow (AWESOME version - my favorite track on the disc)
4. Searchin' For A Rainbow Manchester
5. Fire On The Mountain Hammersmith Odeon London 11/27/76
6. 24 Hours At A Time Odeon Birmingham 11/29/76
7. This Ol' Cowboy London
8. Can't You See Glasgow
9. Every Day I Have The Blues London
10. Will The Circle Be Unbroken London

Overall, a very worthwhile release, as anything is that showcases Toy Caldwell in his absolute, fire-breathing prime.

Hope this helps.

This is the one I can't wait for:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Take-Highway-Live-Chicago-1977/dp/B01AT185UG/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1459035242&sr=1-3&keywords=marshall+tucker+band

I only saw Tucker once, the same place this was recorded, I think the night before or after, and they blew my head off. I've had a copy of this show for years courtesy of Wayne, who basically built my collection when I first got here, and this show is absolutely incredible. It was an FM broadcast on WKQX and I can't WAIT to hear it again. I'm obviously biased, but to me this is the closest we'll ever get to an MTB Holy Grail show.

Hopefully, it'll be available here on amazon soon but even if it isn't, there's no problem buying from amazon UK - sometimes their prices are cheaper than buying from amazon here because of the exchange rate, even WITH shipping, especially on multi - disc imports.

2. Take The Highway Apollo Theater Glasgow 12/1/76

I was shocked to see that I had missed this show, so much so that I checked out the excellent website for the Apollo http://www.glasgowapollo.com/index.asp?s_id=1&m_id=1 expecting to find that it was a mistake.

Sure enough, there it is - 1 December 1976 MTB headlined supported by Bonnie Bramlett and Grinderswitch.

So where the hell was I? I was a big MTB fan. I was living in Glasgow. In fact, I was at the Jackson Browne/ Warren Zevon show on 5 December - it was so cold and snowy that it was in doubt that the bands would make it from Manchester.

I don't have the ticket so it's not as if I bought a ticket and couldn't go because of the bad weather or illness...

This revelation has made me mad!!!

I'm in the same boat. Englishtown is the worse 'official' release of any artist i've ever bought. Here's the bad part...this is embarrassing...i bought it twice 😮 seriously, i somehow forgot the rotten recording and i knew they had a new one out (which was the UK one) and picked it up again! Doug owes me big time.
Anyway after reading the comments i suppose i'll buy the UK one.
