Nice to see more Gov’t Mule dates announced. Looks like Utica is the closest for me. Anyone here ever been to a show at the Saranac Brewery? I imagine it’s an outdoor venue, can you bring a lawn chair? Or is it strictly standing? Couldn’t really see anything on their website about it.
Any recommendations on a nice place to stay and or eat?

I see both Mule and Gregg (with ZZ Top) have dates scheduled at this Huber Heights stage west of Columbus. Is it new? There is also another pavilion type venue on I70 west of Columbus that WSP is playing at in May that is new. Seems odd to have two competing venues so close to each other.
I'll catch them in Pittsburgh. Saw Warren this year, but it's been a few years since my last Mule show.

Hey nebish they are the same place. The rose music center in huber heights. GA pit tickets are right up against the stage. I've only been to one show there so far since it opened but I am definitely going to catch mule and Gregg there.

TTB and the wheels of soul will also be there this year. John fogerty will be stopping by too.

We saw Mule are Saranac the last time they played there. It's a parking lot and you can bring chairs.
We'll be there.

Speaking of Utica, I used to drink this back in the old days:

Nothing but the best for you.

I also saw Mule at the Saranac Brewery the last time they played there. And Moe. a few years before that. Also saw Zappa Plays Zappa there last summer. Very small, intimate venue basically in the middle of the Brewery. It's on Varik Street in Utica which has a number of bars and places to eat within a short walk of the venue.
The last time I saw Mule there was about two weeks before "By a Thread" was released. Late Sept. 2009 was the show date i seem to recall.
I'll be there again this time around!

Also, 8/13/16 at blue hills pavilion boston.

Thanks PhotoRon and Chain. Picked up two during the pre-sale.
Strange thing though is SongKick says they’ll ship tickets 14 before show and I just tried this morning for two more for friends and now it gives the option to print at home or have 2-3 day delivery.
Anyway maybe I’ll meet some of you there.

I sure would like Mule to play the Norva in Norfolk. I'd travel for that show. They always seem to play special shows at that venue. I'd also love shows in Charlottesville, DC, and Richmond. C'mon Mule!

Thanks PhotoRon and Chain. Picked up two during the pre-sale.

That is because the presale was over and song kick linked to ticketfly which was the primary seller.

I'll be near the rail, wearing a Farmer shirt and a CIA hat.
Introduce yourself, I love meeting faMULEy!

Grew up near utica...Make sure you drink plenty of Saranac!!

The Norva is long overdue for a Mule show. The last one was 3 or 4 years ago.

By the way, the venue is general admission and so there's not necessarily a need to buy pre-sale other than being sure to get a ticket. As far as I know they've never closed out ticket purchases at the Brewery. I bought my ZPZ tickets last year a month or so before the show via Ticket Fly and printed them right at home. Very convenient and easy.
Also, there's numerous motels and hotels within a few miles of Varik street. Probably the best being, I think, the Raddison on Genessee street just down and across the street from the Stanley Theatre (a venue Mule has played before by the way). It's a very short cab ride from the Brewery.
One other thing, Varik Street has become kind of the college hang out and there's numerous bars very close by to hit before and after the show. A new micro-distillery and wine bar just opened a block from the brewery. However, there are stretches of the that general area of Utica that have become crime ridden and a bit seedy for lack of a better term. In fact, there was a shooting the night of the ZPZ show last summer just a few blocks from the venue. That section of town has a pretty robust gang and drug scene from what our cab driver mentioned as we literally drove by the crime scene on our way to our motel after the show.

Well
Just got back from Utica, what a show. I mean it always is a bit of an adventure for me when I head out on a road trip to see the Mule.
All the way down we had rain, but as the show drew nearer things seemed to clear up.
Blackberry smoke put on a fine set. It was my first time even hearing them. I really enjoyed what I heard I need to pick up some of their stuff for sure.
Anyway after their set. A representative of the venue came out and said they had some good news and some bad.
The good was that the show would go on at some point. However everyone would have to leave the venue as a major storm with lightning and heavy rain was about to hit. They instructed people to return to their cars and those who did not have their cars close by to follow security to a sheltered area at the brewery which later ended up in their warehouse. Safe from the storm we all took shelter and waited it out. After about half an hour we saw a number of staff bringing in a couple of kegs and the equipment. A couple of light hearted cheers went up, but a few of us thought that was the signal that the show was about to be called.
What happened next blew my mind. It was come on up and have a beer….on the house! Wow I mean talk about hospitality. Everyone well behaved and enjoying some beer while waiting out a storm…nice and dry.
After about an hour and a half they announced the show was about to get started.
The Mule put on a solid show doing a couple of songs from the Dark Side of the Mule record and Lively up yourself among others and finishing up with 30 Day in the Hole, Sugaree and Soulshine .
Hey PhotoRon just before the evacuation call, I believe I spotted you if you were wearing the CIA ballcap. I was on my way over to introduce myself, but waited so my wife and I didn’t get separated in the evac call. So till next time bud. Hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did.

Yeah, that was me with the CIA hat and the Farmer shirt on.
We were parked a block away so we went to the car.
Came back when we thought the storm was over, didn't want to miss the show.
Turned out we got to the gates as the skies opened up and we got drenched.
We ended up in our usual spot in front of Warren about five "rows" back.
Great show even though shortened by weather.
If I had known about the warehouse we would have gone there, I know JoLynn and a bunch of other friends did.
