I like that Les Paul with P-90s too.

Wonder which guitars and amps are not for sale? Well obviously gear he likes better than this but wonder what he is keeping just out of curiosity.

I was surprised when Fleetwood Mac went out again Lindsey Buckingham was shut out and replaced.

@robertdee There was a picture - in the Tom Petty box set, I think - of Tom and Mike sitting in their club house studio surrounded by what looked like hundreds of guitars.  I confess to owning about 11 - some of which I never seem to find time to play.  I always wonder what Mike, Tom and others with massive collections ever do with all of them!  In the video, Mike mentions that he owns more than one of some of the guitars that he's selling.  Some are obviously novelties - weird guitars that he picked up because they're ... weird!

Fleetwood Mac - so many incarnations - all with their own merits and strengths.  I remember (still in high school) when someone told me that Buckingham-Nicks were going to join Fleetwood Mac.  I really couldn't believe it - but in terms of $sales, they became the biggest, most popular version of the band.  I always enjoyed laying some Peter Green era on the newbie fans - just to see the looks on their faces!

I was actually very interested in the latest version - with Mike Campbell and Neil Finn.  I don't know if they recorded or even plan to do so.  Their touring plans got derailed by Covid.  Had they passed within driving distance to me, I'm sure I would've showed up - out of curiosity more than anything.  Mike has some blues roots, so I'm sure he would've done the original line-up proud.  Neil is a fine singer/songwriter.  I would be interested to hear his work done a la Mac.

@rusty Yes the Peter Green era is my favorite of the lineups of Fleetwood Mac. The Chuck Leavell/Lamar Williams era of the Allman Brothers was the most famous. Millions of people bought Brothers and Sisters as their first ABB record. And considering they never had another new album to sell over a million copies, millions of those people apparently never bought another.

But 1969-1979 A Decade Of Hits released in 1991 sold over 2 million copies and Eat A Peach and At Fillmore East have sold a couple million and continue to sell a few thousand copies each year, it's likey the original band today is the most famous lineup.

Yes Neil Finn is an interesting guitarist. "Hey, now, hey now, don't dream it's over" is his song isn't it?

Keith Richards was ask about his guitars a couple of years ago and he mentioned a certain Telecaster that is the only one that he would own if he could only afford one. But the man said "But you can afford more than one so how many?" Keith said " Somewhere between 2 and 3 THOUSAND guitars". That is insane. Joe Walsh mentioned a 1958 Les Paul Goldtop as the only one if that was all he could afford and he would also have his 1957 Fender Stratocaster has if he could only afford two. But how many Hoe. " Oh about 800 or so!" That is insane to me. Billy Gibbons owns over 1,000 and Joe Bonamassa about 900.

Gregg Allman owned 42 when he died and Devon got them all. Dickey has about 45. About 11 Les Pauls including his famous 1957 Goldie Les Paul which is red now. That is a nice number. 40 to 50. But 3 thousand. I saw Jeff Beck in his guitar room on TV. Dozens of guitars including some nice Les Pauls I never ever saw him play. Why?

There is a Peter Green video on YouTube where he takes a man into a secure room and all of Peter's guitars were in their cases. ES-335, several Stratocasters, Les Pauls and other nice guitars.

Warren Haynes talked about his guitar collection getting heavy. He said you realize you don't play a particular guitar anymore or haven't in some years but you just can't let it go for some reason.

@robertdee I saw a story a while back about a player (Al Dimeola, I think) who found a vintage (1957?) "black beauty" Les Paul that he didn't even know he had because it was buried behind a bunch of other guitars that he owned. I don't think I could forget that I owned a guitar like that!

FYI - I'm working on a demo of some original songs.  They all suck, but I do have one called "Too Old For Another Guitar?" where I wonder out loud if I really, actually need another instrument.  I'm pretty sure that this is a viable addiction of some sort.  Seriously.

Keith Richards owns between 300 to 400 guitars. He isn't sure nor is his tech.

imagine owning so many guitars that you have no idea how many you own?

@rusty I have an Al Dimeola album on vinyl I bought in the mid to late 1970s because Al is pictured with a sharp black Les Paul. I had not heard of him at the time but love Les Pauls so that is why I bought it.

Al was fast, clean and technically advanced but I ended up being more impressed with the tracks where he played acoustic lead guitar. Al could fly.

Al still can fly and plays chord patterns that make me shake my head and say "WTF?"

That's the kind of "First World" problem I'd like to have to deal with!  Maybe.  If I get any more, I'll need a bigger house!  😉

Most of them bought in the 60s/70s - Imagine the guitars? Would be jaw dropping.

Neal Schon is Auctioning off over 100 guitars - they were posted but seems to be gone now.

Looking at all these vintage Les pauls/Strats etc - it was insane. half a dozen 1959 Les Pauls alone.

And I though I had a bunch of stuff laying around . His collection is out of this world. I really like the older guitars and amps, but I'm not sure my piggy bank is large or big enough to handle some of the price tags. Have to check it out though..
