My first ABB gig at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on 5/6/05. Went with a good friend of mine. It was the first concert we'd been to in years and we had a blast. It help rekindle our passion for music and kicked up the friendship a few notches.

Berry Oakley Jr. come on stage and played bass for two songs. I thought that was real special.

A few significant ones for me. After 9 years of seeing ABB shows I went to the Beacon in 1999. Went to the Gin Mill for Wonwayout Gary's pre-show party....one he held for nearly 20 years including this past March. Met Lana, Frim, Gary, ArtD, Potter (we both traveled from ATL...and we were "hey I know you from back home!") and a bunch of other great folks I'm still connected with to this day.

After meeting Helen at the Beacon in 2006, I traveled down to Wanee by myself on her invitation. I came in Friday and she talked me back to the Hilton compound. I saw a number of great folks I already knew and met many more...for the past 9 years. Getting to play and sing 2 years ago around the fire with Junior Mac & Reggie Pittman, just an hour after they had been on stage with the ABB, was almost an out of body experience. Whoa!

And my last memory that is profound is my first: getting a free, really top notch table at Chastain Park the day of the July 2, 1990 show. 5 of my college buddies and I loaded a big cooler and walked after the music was playing. I had just heard Seven Turns and Good Clean Fun on the radio that week and was impressed (I was a "greatest hits" fan at that point). I walked out that night a changed man!

And then there was the year I traveled to the Beacon and saw the ABB on Thursday, Van Morrison at the Apollo Friday and the ABB at Saturday.

My first ABB show was in Oakland, Ca in 1973. A group of us went in a friend's beat up, old station wagon. My second show was at the Cow Palace on 1-1-74. One of my fondest memories was on May 15, 1979 for the "Enlightened Rogues" tour at the Fabulous Forum in L.A. The anticipation almost killed me; first ABB concert in almost four years at that point, the one prior?..also at the Forum in '75 for the "WLD" tour. I could go on.....

I learned how to play guitar on 2 Mountain Jams and 2 Blue Skies every day of my junior year of college, tuned up to Eat a Peach of course. Jam to Duane then Jam to Dickey

The guy one dorm room over, by the end of the year, would tell me. "DUDE, you OWN the Mountain Jam"

March 20th 2009. The rumor was that EC was going show up, but nothing official. I remember sitting outside during break, smoking butts, chatting with people, sharing the overwhelming enthusiasm that it could happen. The anticipation was over the top! You know the rest. Still gives me the chills, and is still my greatest ABB memory in 40+ shows .

Piper....good call! I was there the night before on 3/19 and it seemed that it was much more than a rumor that the ABB had been rehearsing with Clapton. The anticipation was thick! It was probably the most buzz in the air I ever experienced at a theatre rock show in my life.

And the ABB came out and BOOM play a great first set that ends with Whipping Post. Gregg starts set 2 on piano solo and then Clapton comes out for an hour to make for one amazing, unique show.

We also reminisced about the time around 400 or so of us saw them in '79.
Sat front row with our feet propped on the stage, with Dickey quite literally playing @ our feet for 2 1/2 hours! 😛

2007-staying with my wife and boys in a hotel suite next door to Derek,Susan,and family.

Coming back from dinner post show,my then 17 year old son and I bumped into Derek as he was taking out the diapers...my son was so excited.Derek,as every time I've met him was so nice and we had a great talk about guitar playing,music,etc.

The four times sitting backstage...lots of cool stories...

2007 Beacon hotel party.Met some wonderful people from here...so many more memories,too many to list.

Being a recent convert, I didn't know all the songs, but goodness gracious it just flowed over me until I submitted completely. I was never the same, ruined for life

One that stands out is the anniversary show which I attended with mega thanks to a brother who supplied the tix - it was an awesome gesture.
Another was my first Beacon wherein we were able to get right in front of Dickey and after the show after being told it was my bday, I got the setlist, pic and drum stick - so cool

My first show 12//27/69 at the Fillmore East and tonight is my 162nd.... Everyone a part of my life . Hope I don't cry tonight . Think I will.

Been a lurker on here for years, but I feel the obvious need to post today. Best memory/show for me is the Saturday of the Fox Run in 2004. I was totally blown away!!!

Probably close to 100 shows.....1974 in Jersey City right thru til this past Tuesday........too many great nights with friends, gonna miss the pizza at Patsy's before the shows........all the beer and laughs.........and then great musical memories with the absolute finest live performing band EVER! Thanks to all the members of the Allman Brothers Band for all the great memories.......I guess being in the house for Clapton at The Beacon was probably my favorite memory!

The show wasn't very good because Gregg was trashed, but it was the one and only time I got to see the Almost Brothers Band.

Walking over into Piedmont Park - across the street from my grandfather's house as a curious youngster to spy on the hippies and to watch that strange band they were listening to.

Mowing lawns, washing cars and doing assorted odd jobs to earn enough to attend a show by the Five-Man Band in 1972. Taking the bus downtown - forgetting to check the route schedule and thus not knowing that the busses stopped running by shows end. Learning to hitch-hike on the fly.

My first show was 1972 my last this past Saturday.Being a longIslander I've had the pleasure of seeing them many times.Beacon in the spring & jones beach in the summer.As well as all the road trips around the tri state area that I attended.I can never say I saw a bad show they were all special in there own way.the acoustic sets they did though the mid 90's were always great.Members changed and the shows went on.All the special guests I saw and new artists I was turned on to because of the Allman Brothers.ThankYou to all past & presence members for all ways putting a smile on my face.See you all down the road you can bet on it.

My favorite memories of this band would have to be the first 2 times I saw them in back to back years - '99 and '00. I had just truly discovered them in the late 90's when I bought LAFE. I had to see them immediately. My first show was in '99 and was star struck at the sight of Gregg on the Hammond and Dickey's cowboy hat. And of course I remember being blown away by how good they were - way better than I had expected. There was some young blonde haired kid playing with Dickey. The following year I had to see them again, and it was right after they had fired Dickey. I went with my dad and uncle and had great seats, and remember thinking to myself...."boy, these 2 new guitarists are as good as Duane and Dickey!" The rest is history. I've seem them somewhere around 40 times since.

My one and only Beacon run, March 6, 8, 9 2013, especially March 8 which may be the best concert I've ever been too - shortly after that my life crashing around me

most of all, the feeling that I still get when hearing AFE (and now the complete box set)

Pick a show, any show, from 1989-1994. I was in my early to mid-20s and those shows were all great, particularly the Waterloo Village shows in Stanhope, NJ (outdoor -- big field and just a damn good time) and the GSAC shows on July 5, 1989 and August 16, 1992. 8/16/92 was a real highlight for me. Clapton in 2009. 3/26/09. So many more, too numerous to list. Some of my best friends to this day and a couple who are no longer on this Earth were at these shows with me. As the band played song after song Saturday, my mind wandered from each show I have attended over the years. A lot of memories came rushing back in one evening. Very emotional for me.

1975-Lots of hometown boy makes good excitement. Local paper interviews Mama A, and Gregg's uncle the cop. Everybody's convinced they see Cher, inc. me a couple of times.

1980-Volunteer Jam VI, 1:00am !!! The entire band walks out on stage...Dickey says "put yer hands on the radio"...an unforgettable night gets even better ( we were 7 hours in, at that point ).

2009-I get to share The Brothers with my then 26 year-old son. We have a blast.

Another fun memory was hanging out here during the Beacon 2006 - 35th AFE anniversary show. Granted I wasn't there but the energy and the vibes on the thread were a real kick. I was singing the praises of the internet the next day!

I'm old school, I saw the Brothers the weekend the Fillmore East closed and again at the Central theater in Passaic about a month before Duane's passing.

I rediscovered this unit around 2003. I've been to countless Beacon shows, peaking one year with 7 shows...

More imprtatntly , its been the people, specifically the Lounge and all the great people I have met along the way.
I've broken bread, raised glasses, met a lot of the band members and even had a one on one counseling session with Effie one year.
Things I will never forget.

All because of the love of the music.

The road goes on forever.....
