Meat Loaf rushed to hospital after fans see him collapse on stage in Canada and lie still
Meat Loaf was rushed to hospital last night after collapsing on stage during a show.

He was performing classic track I Would Do Anything For Love at the Jubliee Auditorium in Edmonton, Canada, when he slowly leaned down then fell over on his back.

Video shows the audience responding as if it’s part of the act until roadies appear on stage a few seconds later and crowd round the veteran performer, 68.

Witnesses say that fans were then told to leave, while Meat Loaf was taken to a nearby medical centre about 20 minutes after the incident began.

One attendee told the Edmonton Journal: “It looked at first like he was just being theatrical and lying down. Next thing we knew, security were telling us to clear the venue.”

She said that his voice had sounded strained before his collapse, adding that he seemed “a little bit tired and at times it was hard to hear him.”

Meat Loaf’s condition remains unclear. He recently cancelled several shows as a result of an unspecified illness. He’d previously collapsed on stage in Pittsburgh in 2011 and in London in 2003.

I'm not making light of this but hasn't this happened before?

Either way, I hope he's okay.

A brief article from Huffpost including some audience video of his unfortunate collapse:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/meat-loaf-collapses-during-concert_us_57638e5fe4b015db1bc8e455?section=

I saw him a couple weeks ago. He seemed energetic and passionate but I'm sorry to say, his vocals were terrible, mostly talk/singing rather than singing. He really doesn't sound like his old self at all. I was pretty surprised. (Btw, I saw him open for ELO July, 1978 and again in 2010.)

I wish him the best.

*Just saw this on FB: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Meat Loaf collapsed Thursday night due to severe dehydration near the end of his concert at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests. His vital signs are stable and normal — additional tests are being performed but he is responsive and recovering well.

He extends his heartfelt thanks for everyone's support and well wishes, and is expecting a speedy and full recovery.

Any concert postponements / rescheduled dates will be announced at a later time.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Hope he mends. Falling on your face passing out is God's little way of telling you to take care of yourself better. We lauded his MeatLoaf-ness as cool, but a thinner long living Meat would be best.

he is thinner but he has diabetes and its easier for someone with that to get dehydrated

so did my late sister. he maybe needs to re-evaluate some stuff. Not that thin and he looks bad and seems to be risking his health for a show. Rather see him take care of himself.
