So I'm waiting to watch the NBA playoffs and decided to listen to the EC/ABB show.
Haven't listened in awhile and I'm blown away once again hearing this.EC really got what it was about,he dug in and played terrifically adding his own signature and finding new twists and turns in all the unes particularly IMOER.Derek and Warren were having the time of their lives, the whole band is rocking-Butch and Oteil are on their games playing incredibly.Gregg sang really well and the 3 leads were in the comfort zone, after playing together the night before.
A real special evening that's never to be forgotten whether live or on moogis.

I too find myself going back to listening to that show as well. Just hearing the crowd erupt as Warren makes the announcement of EC gives me the chills. The band played great with Clapton. Gregg was phenomenal on Stormy Monday.
It was quite a thrill to finally hear Eric and the ABB. After all those years... Makes you wonder what could have been.
Dreams was somewhat tentative by Clapton I thought. But still tasty. IMOER was real good. Very good to my ears. Would love to hear it by those guys after a few more shows... But I am grateful for those two shows. Immensely!
Doesn't get much better.

One of those rare moments in life that doesn't just live up to the hype, it surpasses it. Even better than it looks on paper.
It's really a shame that, apart from a few thousand hardcore Allmans fans, nobody has heard this show. With the proper promotion and marketing it could have been a major event in rock music.

I love those two shows.
Agreed, it's a shame that the management of the ABB didn't care to put forth much effort into marketing, merchandising or really anything. With any promotion that could have been a MSG sellout, although the Beacon is much better. Also with any promotion the CD/DVD of those two shows could have been a money maker.
It's funny, but if you look back at some of the threads on here from those two nights, there were some who were not happy with Clapton on those shows either because they didn't vary the set list much from the two nights or because they thought he played to reserved. Thus is the internet.

How cool. I've been listening to those 2 shows over the last couple of days, as well. Must be something in the air. If there have ever been 2 shows I could go back in time and see, those 2 would be them.

I recall those nights with people commenting that the similar setlists were meant to produce two versions of songs from which to make a live album. The official versions are out there, but a package of a best of set, in multi-track, with accompanying DVD/Blu-Ray would still be great. I remember someone even commenting that the band wore the same outfits both nights to make the video editing more seamless.
