Little Martha Question(s)

Hi,
Are there any other versions/instances of Little Martha other than on Eat a Peach and the Skydog collection(which I think is the same from EAP)?
Also, what about Warren Haynes or Derek Trucks doing(trying) it?

During my 4 hour pinch me moment I played every guitar available. When I was playing this one Dickey said it was the one Duane played for the Little Martha recording. It was a surreal rush. I know there at least 2 off of imports/boots. 1 was similar and one was with a slight extension.

The 91' tour featured Warren and Dickey (Electric) playing it quite a bit, always preceded by Dickey's intro that included a tribute to Duane ......

Derek & Warren & (sometimes Oteil) would play it at the Beacon. Sometimes on it's own, sometimes as a lead in to another song. I heard it a lot.
Derek also play a portion of it as a lead in to another song on one of the Live albums TTB have out.

very cool photo & experience

There is the bootleg from Alabama that has Duane and Jamioe playing it backstage. Also the Dreams version has Berry playing bass on it. Edited out on EAP.

Leo Kottke does a very nice version

Loved these moments. More specifically, here are some of the ways "Little Matha" was played by Warren/Derek lineup beginning with the 40th anniversary Beacon Shows (they played it on electrics most of the time, but acoustically during the 2012 acoustic sets)

Sometimes they would tease "Little Martha" at the beginning of "Mountain Jam" as they did at their final show. "Little Martha" is in E so it can seemlessly segue into "Mountain Jam" and "Blue Sky" which are also in E.
The song TTB teased "Little Martha" on their live album was "Midnight in Harlem".
Worth tracking down, Dickey Betts & Great Southern did a full-band electric jammy version during the 2005 tour that never really stuck in the set list. It's a little rough at times, but interesting arrangement nonetheless. It appears on the Instant Live they recorded at the Odeon that year you can hear a sample here: https://www.allmusic.com/album/instant-live-the-odeon-cleveland-oh-3-09-04-mw0000339660

Here's another Leo Kottke version of Little Martha.

Hey man, of all the things I've read in the many years I've been here, this is hands down the coolest. Man, unreal.

I know I was thrilled to be close to Duane's Goldtop years ago at the RnR HOF. My flight was delayed out of Cleveland due to snow. So went to the HOF and it was empty. Stood by the Fillmore display they had at the time and was mesmerized. Now that I think about it, it must have been the tobacco or dark burst and not the Goldtop. Duane was spelled out on the back with frets thanks to Twiggs.
This past summer went to the Big House and had the same thrill.
I cannot imagine being able to play Duane's dobro. Surreal for sure. (Not that I can play anyway)
eap,
Steve

And btw where could one get his hands on that Alabama bootleg to hear Duane and Jaimoe?
Steve

For those who may not know, the resonator guitar pictured above that Duane played on Little Martha is the guitar Dickey has on the cover of Dickey's Highway Call album from 1974.
Gregg Allman gave Dickey the guitar just after Duane died.
Dickey plays acoustic guitar on Little Martha and Berry Oakley plays bass. But Tom Dowd decided it sounded better without Berry's track so it was left off Eat A Peach and Duane's resonator guitar lead and Dickey's acoustic guitar backing was all Dowd used.

My stuff is scattered all over the place, I dug out this gem and it has a slight tape hiss along with the Little Martha version with Berry on bass.

Fretsman. Those pics are fantastic. Duane always looks so confident when playing a guitar.
I've heard Little Martha with Berry's track restored. I bought the Dreams box in 1989 so that must be where I've heard it. I haven't played the boxset in years. I need to get it out. I messed up and bought the cassette version.
I have some Leo Kottke albums. He is a fine musician.

Goodness!!!! Thank You Fretsman! No words seem appropriate here, to say that these photos and moments are incredibly awesome would be a gross understatement! Like others here, my wife and I were left speechless and deeply touched by our trip to Macon this past fall..........Peace.......joe
The way ABB fans share, it's almost like in a tiny way we all get to be a part of things, almost like You were strumming a little bit for all of Us Fretsman!

that's truly amazing.
I must admit I didn't fully get it from your OP.
wow!

Wow, thanks everyone for the input.
I think I'm going to have to get the 1989 Dreams box set...
I always thought on EAP, it was just Duane, didn't realize it was a duet with Dickey.
Thanks again for your time.

You NEED to get the Dreams box set. I have quite an extensive collection of ABB stuff. Imports (hard to find), boots, etc. One of the hardest things I found was trying to get Dreams on Cassette. Didn't need it. In fact, I've never played it but I have it.
There are a whole bunch of previously unreleased songs on it including including Hour Glass, 31st of February, The Second Coming.
There's even a song on there from Allman and Woman (the one with Cher). Not positive but I think it is the only version of those two released on CD.
They did a great job with this.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Lee,
Thanks for directing me to the 1989 Dreams album.
Pretty incredible, would only be wasting words if I tried to tell you how incredible to me.....
Thanks again
