Johnny Winter Movie

I watched this movie titled "Down and Dirty" last night. Maybe it's me but i thought the movie portrayed Johnny in a bad light. Not much video of him playing and very little of him in his younger days. The movie seemed to focus on the 90's and later for the most part. I felt they gave too much attention to his drug addiction and to his frailty later in life. There were cameos from Derek and Warren that were interesting but the majority didn't seem music related. If anyone here saw it I would love to hear your thoughts. Maybe i didn't get it but for me they made him look bad.

Sounds like it was based on the book Raisin' Cain.
Good read but sad story of manager keeping him hooked and such.

Johnny was smokin' hot years ago. Great guitar too. But in later years age, life style etc was taking its toll. Similar to Dickey.

Saw Johnny in early, middle and later years and in the latter, when he was being medicated against his will, THEN cleaned up from same:the difference as a marked improvement, not to the pinnacle of his youth, but not a nano second behind all the time, like Dickey waswhen I saw him with GS a decade a go.

Paul Nelson, quite a beautiful human being, he went above and beyond when it came to taking care of Johnny,it took weeks/months to ween Johnny off the hard stuff and Paul was always there to make sure Johnny got the right/reduced amount, he did it so well Johnny was getting off on placebos near the end. I really believe it was Paul who helped, was largely responsible for giving us a few more years of Johnny and that's priceless. i enjoyed the documentary but I'm kinda biased having seen Johnny from 69 (Woodstock), Fillmore East etc., too many times to count til 2014.
