Thanks for sharing this. I caught JPJ opening for King Crimson around this time. One of the best double bills I have ever seen.

Obviously I knew JPJ was a great bassist and a well-rounded musician, but he blew us and the rest of the crowd away.

MORE!!!

Welcome! I had a chance to see him on that tour and missed it. Darn!!!

ZOOMA is a REALLY good album, Its hard to believe that it came out over 20 yrs ago. Would like to hear more of that. JPJ is a pretty diverse in his musical genres for sure. I liked Them Crooked Vultures. I remember reading this years back when Plant saw them play. Got a chuckle out of it!!

Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has revealed a trip to see his ex-bandmate John Paul Jones’ supergroup Them Crooked Vultures further cemented his move away from heavy rock.

Plant joked that his ears had ‘bled for two days’ after the show, and that he is moving away from the direction of rock n roll being pursued by John Paul Jones, despite their interests being almost the exact opposite in the Seventies. “I feel so far away from heavy rock now,” he told the UK’s Independent newspaper.

“It’s quite odd, how mine and John’s paths seem to have crossed over, we’ve sort of gone into each others’ worlds a bit.”

Plant will release his new album ‘Band Of Joy‘ on September 13th, and he explained to the newspaper that he will continue to explore his new interests, rather than sticking to his traditional sound. “For me, it’s no longer to do with vanity, ego and visible success,” he said. “It’s just about getting down into the earth of music. I spent three or four years never playing a Zeppelin song from 1981 onwards, because I didn’t want to lean on Zeppelin. I’ve gone from being in that huge band to picking up the pieces of my own gift.”

I saw him about 5 yrs ago when he was with Dave Rawlings Machine . That was very cool.
