Well I just picked up his latest Hornet's Nest. good rockn' blues, the producer and co-writer is the same guy who works with Buddy Guy.So far i like what i hear. He has a release coming in Oct. and he is playing here in a couple of months, I plan on going.
If you like Joe's stuff, check out Jarekus Singleton he is in the same vein.

I used to play one of his songs in a band several years ago. Joe Louis has some really great material.

If you can get a hold of a record from 1997 called "Great Guitars" by JLW, you will be very pleasantly surprised. Bonnie Raitt contributed some vocals and slide to the opening cut, Low Down Dirty Blues, which got a lot of airplay here in the Bay area. Here it is:

Other than that, the list of guests on this record is unbelievable, and a tribute to Joe's talent: Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Steve Cropper, Buddy Guy, Robert Lockwood Jr., Scotty Moore, Otis Rush, Ike Turner, The Tower of Power Horns. Produced by Steve Cropper.

I just looked, amazon has it, something like $16.49, but you can do an MP3 download for $6.99.
Thanks to your thread, it's in my stereo right now, hadn't spun it in years.

Joe's amazing! And he had a good teacher, one Michael Bloomfield! He stayed with Mike who taught him a lot.
