Jimmy Herring will hit the road this fall with a new band Jimmy Herring and The 5 of 7. The group’s debut tour has been expanded into November with the promise of yet more dates to come.
Jimmy Herring & The 5 Of 7 features Herring along with bassist Kevin Scott, drummer Darren Stanley, keyboardist Matt Slocum and vocalist and guitarist Rick Lollar. “Rick, Matt, and Kevin had a band together called King Baby,” said Jimmy, “and I heard their record…I couldn’t help but think, man, if I could get together, play some of Rick’s songs, some of my songs, some covers, and maybe write a few things together, we may be on to something…”
The quintet starts their inaugural run in Colorado this September and then heads to the Midwest and Northeast over the course of the month and into early October. Jimmy Herring & The 5 Of 7’s new leg focuses on the Southeast. The leg begins at Victory North in Savannah on November 7 and then includes stops in Asheville, Athens, Macon, Chattanooga, Nashville, Birmingham and Jackson (Mississippi). From there, the five-piece plays New Orleans on November 16, Tallahassee on November 17 and Herring’s hometown of Atlanta on November 20. As mentioned, more dates are in the works.

He is playing here in Chicago Friday at a small venue. Very cool place. I'd love to see him but I guess I am cheap. It is almost 50 bucks with fees so I am passing on it. I've seen Derek, Warren, Susan, Galactic, Moon Alice, Tea Leaf Green, among others and they didn't cost that much.
Oh well. He has a pretty big band to pay.

Small Venue + Big Talent = High Ticket Prices
But I would consider $50 pretty reasonable for this band.
$50 is a steal, It's not even a tank of gas for the band? All world talent for a couple city drinks. It's almost a break even tour, but the love is there from both sides of the mic'.
Jimmy & Friends will be @The Brooklyn Bowl tonight. I think I paid $28 per ticket and I almost feel I wronged somebody? I'm praying for more prosperous days for all of us!

I watch and learn. You can see a world class chef make a fabulous tasty entrée and with the right ingredients you can now within reason make it yourself and enjoy the recipe forevermore, I watch in awe of Jimmy's playing on this tune and I reach for my guitar and have fun with his creation. Great player.
