Jim Morrison gone 50 years today

I wasn't born yet, but it's hard to believe his death was 50 years ago. Their music still sounds fresh unlike many bands from that era. I double dog dare you to try and drive the speed limit with LA Woman cranked in the car!

I have a friend named James Morrison, who I will be seeing later today. He's the exact same age as his famous counterpart. He occasionally gets random phone calls from people (mostly girls/women) who think "Jim" is still alive. My friend is balding and a little pudgy ... yet very convincing. When he encounters such people he tells them, "yeah, I'm him - I just got tired of the hassle of touring and keeping in shape and decided to drop out of the scene." Yes, he can be very convincing. Funny to see these folks standing there with their mouths wide open like that. 😉

Yes it is, & almost as much so the movie was 30 years ago - was good to see the interest it generated in the band
In My Cross To Bear, Gregg recalled first meeting the Doors when he was tripping on orange sunshine while house sitting at John & Julia Densmore’s house in Calif - their dog had just had puppies “and I looked out the window & here come four limousines up the drive”
In Please Be With Me, Galadrielle recalled Morrison & Gregg hanging out at an Hourglass/Doors show - “When the Doors came offstage, Gregg walked over to Jim and asked him something. They stepped outside together smiling as Duane watched.”
The Brothers had a July 5-10 residency at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City - have never heard that they acknowledged Morrison’s passing at the opening show

This is from Friday night. Went yesterday and they played "The End" followed by "Light My Fire" to close the show.
Amazing!
Today's show starts at 6.
These guys are out of Venice Beach.
Fun fun.
Happy Fourth everybody!
