For me - out of all the Yardbirds guitarists, I always thought Jeff took the instrument to places outside the boundaries that Clapton and Page seemed to have observed. He colored outside the lines. I'm not saying that I think he's better than the other two or that he's my favorite. I always appreciated his different, less than conventional approach to things. In an alternate universe, I think it would have been very interesting if he had been in the same time and space as Col. Bruce at some point earlier in both of their careers.

I remember seeing him one time at the Florida Theater in Jacksonville and I was astonished to NOT see a massive amount of pedals on the floor in front of him, after hearing some of the sounds he was producing.

You have to respect the guy for being an individual and doing it his own way all these years.

I always recall his comments at some Rock Hall of Fame induction speech, talking about Rod Stewart: "we have a love hate relationship, he loves me and I hate him."

Nice. Jeff's always been one of my fav's (with about 10 others), Stellar control over his sound in all aspects. The subtle control over his whammy bar and volume control is beautiful. He dedicated Cause We've Ended As Lovers to Roy Buchanan who I then checked out, and for that I'm forever grateful. He's an all world strummer.
