Jackie Greene @The City Winery, NY 5/17/19

Jackie Greene came into the City for an early and a late show at the City Winery. The Lone Ranger had Tonto, Butch Cassidy had Sundance and Mr. Greene was joined all night by Nathan Dale on guitars and backing vocals and was joined by Leslie Mendelson for a few tunes during the late show. She joined Anders Osborne in the recent past. Great display of musicianship, songwriting, and vocals, songs both new and old, most familiar some not. The harmonies were clicking all night across the board. Jackie is building up some resume and discography. The Gent certainly mixes up the set lists for which I'm very "grateful". I love this guy. A true gem to follow.

Sweet, I hope you get a nice deep gem or two.

I bumped into this on Jackie's FB Fan Page, It's the Boston show streamed, I browsed thru some of it so far. It looks like a nice show.

Jackie was great as always.
The audio is up on e-tree.

I put the set lists of most shows I see up on www.setlists.fm. As long as I know the songs, I recently saw Frank Vignola's Hot Jazz Trio and he played tunes from the early 1900's out? Most songs were jazzy guitar interpretations of aged classics. The last 8 songs I couldn't label, I searched, scanned, compared, and I bailed. No setlist. I labeled them ?1, ?2, etc.
The Jackie Greene shows I put up as I knew the songs. I got an email that some guy edited the songs. Uncapitalized words? and justifiably hit an option to state it's a cover of another artist.
I hit the play button on the 1st video and it rolls thru the set list playing a random version of each song played. It's pretty neat, some of the Dead covers was videos from Jackie with the Gents, one tune was with Bobby and one with Phil. It sometimes picks the vid's from the night, not guaranteed.
One of the songs that got edited was They Love Each Other. It chose my video from the night (which was nice as Jackie wished some friends a Happy Anniversary. It then went to Grindstone from the City Winery, but not my video it was JG from 7 years ago at the same venue. Nice, then it goes to Another Love Gone Bad, by now I have the show just running in autopilot playing the show out, at the end of the song he puts down his guitar and talks as he's walking behind the piano saying he's going to experiment and play Sugaree. It then starts loading video of the next song in the set list. I started thinking it's going to be like the old mixed tapes I made 40 years ago where when you put a live song on your tape it introduces the next live song and then a different song pops up, but on setlistfm it put up a nice intimate Jambase version of Sugaree.
If you want a nice little revisit of a show plug in the date and artist, hit the play button on the 1st video and let it fly, You may not get any videos from the exact show, but it puts the search mode on them and they do a good job.
