Jack will be playing a show at 3rd & Lindsey here in Nashville on Aug 2. Tickets are on sale now. This is great news, as I had heard that he was in poor health and had difficulty playing.

It has been the case. Jack hasn't been in good enough health to play much for close to three years now.

Such a talented and creative guitarist. Gregg Allman said a few years before his passing that Jack was a fantastic player and Gregg talked a little about Jack's contributions to Searching For Simplicity, one of Gregg's solo albums. Said next to his brother, Jack ranked very high with Gregg.

Glad Jack is planning to play again!!

I used to love seeing Jack Pearson with the Allman Brothers Band in 1997 & 1998....I used to love how he would do the bird cries in Dreams. Glad to hear he is feeling well enough to play again

Here is a list of 10 blues/rock guitarists who they say deserve to be in the rock and roll Hall of Fame.

All of these are as good as anyone in the hall I suppose, just different. I can mention another. Jack Pearson. Often I mention his name to the young want to be guitarists at the big music store here and "I've never heard of him" He was in the Allman Brothers Band from 1997 to 99. " Nope never heard of him."

@robertdee I wish there would have been an official release or some kind of official document of Jack's time in the ABB. As far as I know there was the one pay per view from Sept 1998, but not much else other than the bootlegs we all used to collect and trade. An archival release of one the best shows with him would be a welcome addition to the band's catalog.

@jack_frost I agree. And it was discussed some years ago by some people involved with the band about an archival release. It was even stated they would let Jack pick the show.

This was just after the Allman Brothers Band broke up in 2014, 11 years ago, and nothing more was heard about it as far as I know.

Jack Pearson was similar to Duane Allman as a player but not as a personality. Jack and Duane at shows I've seen would occasionally play something completely unexpected in their solos and sometimes take a jam to a new and different direction.

In 2015 Butch Trucks while promoting the Freight Train band citized Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks for being too worried about mistakes and trainwrecks so they never took the music someplace unexpected. Said after a few years of playing in the band with them on every solo he knew what they were going to do before they did it even in jams. And he said he is pushing the soloists in Freight Train to take chances and go somewhere unexpected.

Keep in mind in 2014 Butch needed the ABB to give him another five years just as he requested in 2009 when the band originally planned to quit. But in 2014 Warren, Derek and Gregg Allman  said no and resigned,  ready to move on with their own bands. So at the time I wondered if Butch said that about Warren and Derek because he was mad at them for quiting in 2014.
