Great song I've always loved it. What's so cool is that it's as contemporary today as the day it was written including the solo. Albert was bringing the tone. Cool

I was and still am a huge Ten Years After/Alvin Lee fan. I'd Love to Change the World was one of the first set of chords I ever learned also. I kinda wonder how the first few lyrics fits into our current PC -tolerant society?

'Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity..."

"Dykes" and "Fairies" - where is sanity? Does this still play well? Talk among yourselves! 😉

Tell me where is sanity. That still stands for my values.

I am a huge Alvin Lee/TYA fan and have been for many years. Even was a regular on Alvin's board, before he passed. I have a love/hate relationship with the song. Musically, it is a masterpiece, with both acoustic and electric guitar an some excellent lead work. Lyrically, I can't stand the laissez-faire attitude presented that is such a cop-out:
"I'd love to change the world
but I don't know what to do
so I leave it up to you"

Gimme a break! He has much better lyrics in other songs...

Interesting side note: It was his biggest hit song and he NEVER performed it live. He said it was a combination of not being able to replicate it in a live setting and cowing down to the masses to "play his hit". Either way, I gotta give him credit for that.
