When it was announced Ian Hunter was playing 4 dates at the City Winery I knew I'd hit one of them. It was billed as his 80th Birthday Bash with Nights 1 and 3 being Mott The Hoople Nights, Night 4 being the actual birthday bash, and Night 2, The one I chose was the 40 Year Solo Career retrospective.

He threw a couple gems in from MTH, but played some deep solo material which I dug, I loved the lyrics in Central Park 'n' West and was digging that inclusion and for all of his shows and his youthful age we got a 1st Time played in Restless Youth which he explained after how he had Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi in mind when he penned it.

Fun night of Rock 'n' Roll with Ian Hunter & The Rant Band (Mark Bosch, Dennis Debrizzi, Steve Holley, James Mastro, and Paul Page)

He looks good, and seems to have the fire still.
