My sister saw them twice in Chicago. once at the Auditorium Theater - which led to the banning of rock bands at the Auditorium for many, many years after.

I can still remember going with my mom to drop her and her friends off in their prim, white suburban high school girl dresses (they looked sweet).....years later I often wondered if they or my mom had ANY idea what they were in for.....Morrison was arrested for dropping has pants in Miami not too long after that second show.

I was born in 1967, so no chance.

However, I've read that in 1970 they played Danbury High School, which is near me. I get a kick out of the idea. It's hard to believe that at that advanced point in their career, they would play at a high school auditorium. I've been there to see my kids' marching band perform, and I always smile, thinking of Jim Morrison being there.

I never saw the Doors with Morrison, but see see two later incarnations with both Manzarek and Krieger. The first was The Doors of the 21st Century and second was Riders on the Storm. There was a different singer each time, neither of which sounded like Morrison, but both were good and the music was spectacular.

Saw them at the Civic Center in Philly in '67 I think. I believe a live album was recorded at the show. Powerful!

I never saw them although I'm a big fan - they really were a great band. A friend of mine saw them when they played with The Who at The Singer Bowl in Queens NY. Wow, what a twin bill that must have been! He said both bands were great. That was Aug. '68. I have quite a few of their traded shows. They were a great live band!! Someone mentioned the Vanilla Fudge - wow, they're still kickin' around?

Fortunate to have seen the Doors at the Felt Forum, 1-17-70 early show. Have such precise dating as the entire 4 show run was released as a box set "Live in New York, Felt Forum" with their original producer Bruce Botnick doing the re-mastering. Got to admit at the time that I was a bit disappointed in the performance. Felt like Jim was pretty lacadaisical in his presence and was just mailing it in. Unlike many shows not much interaction with the audience. A re-listen without the visuals indicates a pretty good overall band performance.
