Housebound

Hey there sweet family, in early March Rowland and I made the decision not to go to the MSG concert out of concern for Covid-19. At the same time we also decided to become largely housebound.
Since then, I've baked a lot and enjoyed sending treats and/or coffee to Peachy peeps. Rowland planted a garden and had a small observatory built. We both took up yoga (he more successfully than I) and take turns making dinner. He does a *lot* of web work. I've become a news junkie.
If you've made a similar decision, what are you doing to stay entertained, active, connected, engaged, etc?
Take care and know that you are loved ...

"Lawd, I'm housebound - I'm comin' on ... " never mind. Already there! 😉
I'm just stayin' in the house - hiding under the furniture.
Thought about becoming a burglar - since I've now scrubbed off my fingerprints. Masks have pretty much killed the armed robbery game. 😉

Hi Lana and Rowland!
I take a lot more walks and I've taken up diamond art kits. It's a mindless, stress-free hobby and I am completely addicted! Reading a lot, too.

@pixielf, hi! Thank you for the tip. I'll have to check Diamond Art Kits out. 🙂 I've tried Pottery Awesomeness, which provides kits with unpainted pottery, paint, brushes and glaze. They're stress free and fun too. ❤️

Due to work, I'm online more now than ever. After getting done with work stuff, I go online to check this site, Facebook, etc.
The bottom line is that I am online too much. I have been enjoying diving into the Youtube rabbit hole on my regular TV, from which I sit a good 10 feet back. I have also been reading a lot of hardcover/print books rather than reading online, especially in the hour or two before sleep. Too much late-night computer screen viewing makes for bad sleep.

@jimsheridan, good morning and happy Monday! 🙂 Rowland is always after me not to read the news on my phone before we fall asleep for the reason you mentioned, and it's true. Late night computer screen viewing does make for bad sleep. But I can't resist. When I was a kid I'd fall asleep listening to a transistor radio (argh, that dates me! 🙂 ) under my pillow, or reading a book by flashlight under the covers. Reading the news on my phone is a natural transition. 🙂 ❤️

Glad to hear everyone is trucking on. I work from home so there hasn't been as much adjustment - just a lot of altered plans the past few months.

I'm 11 days into self-isolating. Came into contact with a relative who tested positive a couple of days later, shes now doing fine, so I was contacted by the NHS ''test and trace'' service and told to get tested and then isolate wether my results came back postive or negative, ( luckily Negative). I'm starting to get cabin fever, luckily I was in the process of decorating the whole house before isolating so I have kept my self busy doing that and listening to a whole bunch of old and new releases. Back to work on Friday and a ream of health paperwork that I will need to fill in.

I'm housebound now - not due to covid - but due to rotator cuff surgery last week. I had to have 4 tears fixed in my shoulder and have my bicep reattached. It has given me more time to get involved with a site like this as well as catch up on my music stuff. I upgraded my small studio with some new hardware and have had the time to hear some new music, pass on some music and watch a little football. Not getting bored at all and my shoulder seems to be healing well too. All in all, this has been a fun little vacation I've been a lurker here at this site for quite a few years before I even signed up and finally made a decision to get involved here a little bit because 1. I love the Allman Brothers and Dickey and 2. I have always appreciated the wide variety of music I have heard discussed on this site and checked some things out that I have put into my collection. 3. I have never been involved in online social groups and hoping this little bit of work can help to make my life better. Thanks to all who have been supportive.

Hi Lana, nice to read update on the L&R show Yes, hanging close to home these days. For once my timing was impeccable. I had just finished my home training gym when COVID hit. (Personal trainer for the geezers). Full gear for lifting weight stuff, pulley machine and more. (Think old school). So I have pro grade facility of my own. Modest in scope, but have it all. No modern techy sheet, ha. Gyms are the worst COVID environments now, renegade mask Montana is spiking bad now, so this is my world. Was going to train more, but I am not taking new clients now, just have two regulars. One had COVID and it caused intestinal emergency surgery. So serious stuff.
Also finished my garage with heat and all so my 72 Firebird is happy. Installing a spoiler now, and hope to paint car this winter. And since I go nowhere and don't spend $, I have about filled out my vinyl collection with original finds. Did you know Waylon did like a million albums?

Bird! How great to see you!! 🙂 Do you have any motivational tips for those of us who have a hard time sticking to a training schedule? We don't have a home training gym (yours sounds fabulous!), but are fairly well set up for yoga. Rowland has been great with it, but I started getting lax about a month and a half in.
The '72 Firebird! Yes!! Would love to see pix whenever/if you'd care to share some. 🙂
I didn't know that about Waylon. Love! ❤️

So yes..... Set a day and time window and stick to it. (Ex: Tue / Fri 9-11am window.) Tie a personal reward (not candy, ha) to meeting your weekly workout completion. Make your workout area a separate room if possible. Close the door. No Phone with you. Do not leave room to momentarily do something else in house. Ask others to not interrupt your session time. Tune out the outside world.
Also, I have a no gear torso ("core") program that is so great. I would be glad to share if you ever want to discuss. You already have the mats. I bought extra thick yoga mats which maybe aren't the best for all yoga, but everyone loves them for torso stuff.

@bird72, thank you so much! Those steps are very doable (with the exception of not using candy as a reward, but I'll be strong 🙂 ) and we'll start tomorrow, after we've set up a room downstairs today. 🙂 We actually do have the thick yoga mats. My reward after sticking to the schedule for three weeks will be to ask you about the no gear torso program. Thank you again for your help! 🙂 ❤️

Have basically been quarantining since the defecation hit the ventilation. Have an elderly relative (95) that we are the lifeline support for, can't afford to get sick and pass something on. Not complaining just gotta do what's necessary in these times. Have lots of tunes to listen to, music vids, did subscribe to Netflix, and enjoy several other hobbies. I even let the dog take me for walks.
