I saw this earlier today. I wish Mr. Ed had come back a third time and stomped that gator into road dust.

My sympathy is entirely with the alligator. Native species - until recently, endangered/protected.

When I first saw the clip, I knew what the outcome would be. Alligators are pretty much harmless unless you eff with them. Magnificent, prehistoric animals that are amazing to behold!

We just drove through the Everglades and stopped at a Big Cypress Swamp visitor center where they had some stats on gators and their eggs and mortality rates.

I don't remember the specifics but it was quite enlightening how few of the eggs actually produce a little gator, then how few of those little gators make it to adult hood. They have many obstacles in their lives.

I remember going on an air boat ride a few years ago, somewhere west of Titusville. The guy showed us areas where there were all these holes beside, basically ditches off main areas of water, where little alligators lived. He explained they find these holes, back into them and pretty much spend their youth living right there until they get big enough not to be eaten by another alligator.
