Hey, That McCartney is Pretty Good

And I am the master of understatement.
Saw Sir Paul in Atlanta last night. I had never seen him or any Beatle. 39 songs over about 2.75 hrs w/ no break. Great band, and I appreciate that it was only 5 guys total; sometimes larger bands do not allow you to fully appreciate each player.
I was surprised (pleasantly so) that Paul was on acoustic guitar for probably half the songs. I think my top highlight had to be just him on guitar doing Blackbird (on a rising part of the stage), followed by a Harrison ukulele story then Harrison's Something. And Mr Kite, and Eleanor Rigby and a Foxy Lady tease preceding some song I don't remember.
Also enjoyed Paul's chattiness; the guy has a sincerity about him that makes it seem he is having a conversation w/ each audience member. It's remarkable too that there need be no age excuses made for his performance. I'm sorry that it took me this long to see him.

8 song encore!!! Wow!
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Looks like you scored excellent seats once again! You've obviously got a black belt in TicketMaster!
I've seen McCartney 8 times - always an amazing show! I liked Wings and the line-up that he played with in the early 90's (Robbie Macintosh on guitar) - but this band has been with Paul for quite some time and are all excellent players. I was planning on attending the Jacksonville show, but the only tickets in my budgeted price range were in the far end zone in a football stadium. Having seen Paul on so many other occasions, I decided to pass. I know it's a great, great show though.

I caught the Fenway Park show a few years ago with my kids. great show. He played a little of everything from his career. Crowd loved the tributes to fallen band members. Day in the life transitioning to Give Peace a chance was a stand out. If you have a chance to see Sir Paul,
you will not regret.

Have seen him as well..ALWAYS gives you your moneys worth

Went to our first McCartney and Rolling Stones shows in 2013, Macca at Nationals stadium and Stones at Verizon Center.
PM was excellent and the Stones were very good too, a little surprising.
So glad to check them off the list.
If you haven't and get a chance you will like.

Always Great. Looks like a nice night! Congrats.

I saw him a few years ago at Foxboro. It was a great show.
Looks like he's adding in more Beatles songs as he gets on
great pics, thanks for posting

I saw the McCartney show referenced by aiq at Nationals stadium. It was spectacular. A great show, and my first time seeing him. So glad I made it.
His take on "Helter Skelter" made me think it might be the first "Punk" tune ever written.
Should "Punk" and "Tune" be used in the same sentence?

Just saw him for the 6th time at Dodger Stadium a few weeks ago. Fantastic!!
Only difference in the set was that at Dodger Stadium he played "I Saw Her Standing There" instead of "Get Back". Out of the 39 songs (kind of consider "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" as one, though, so 37 songs), only 16 of them had I seen him play before.
1st time was on the 1976 Wings tour.
#'s 2 thru 5 on consecutive nights in 1988 ("Flowers In The Dirt" tour).
That '88 tour he broke out quite a few more Beatles tunes (only played 5 with Wings), but seems to have been adding more & different ones each tour since. He's finally getting around to playing some of John's Beatle era tunes (on previous tours he's done "Help!", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "A Day In The Life"...as well as "Give Peace A Chance"). This tour adds "Eight Days A Week" & "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite". He was quoted as saying something to the effect of "well, if anybody's going to do John's songs, it might as well be me!"

8 song encore!!! Wow!
This reminds me of what I said after the show. I wish bands would just play through, leaving encores for only the most appreciative audiences. We know they're coming back, they know they're coming back, why waste time?
One caveat, when I saw Elton last yr, he spent the encore applause time to come out and sign things for fans. That was really great of him.
And Rusty, I failed at TM this time, only trying to get a couple of in the door seats and coming up w/ nada. Then, got the hookup of my life a few weeks later!

I saw him at Bonnaroo. unbelieveable feeling singing Hey Jude with 80,000 people. The fireworks during Live And Let Die were awesome.

NEVER disappoints

We saw him the night after Atlanta, in Nashville. He opened with Magical Mystery Tour. That was the only difference in the main set. He changed up the first encore and played Birthday and Saw Her Standing There instead of Hi, Hi, Hi and Get Back. An awesome show. A lot of fun.

8 song encore!!! Wow!
At least three of which - and I suspect more - are Abbey Road, side two type medleys.

Sir Paul is ALWAYS a good show!!!
Have seen him many times with ALL of his bands.
I have had one in intractable rule when it comes to entertainers: If you have the chance to see a legend, GO!!!!! (This became my rule when I was a high school sophomore and had the chance to go see Stravinski. I've been so glad that I have seen some of the most talented in every kind of music because of it, even though I didn't think I'd like it or wanted to go at first)

Saw him a few years back.great band, tremendous show-when we saw him he covered material from pre Beatles to the present day. Can't go wrong with Paul!

My wife is a huge fan; I've seen Paul 6 or 7 times going back to approx. 1987.while not his biggest fan his shows are consistently amazing; as Brock mentioned close to 3 hrs non stop for a man of 72. The set list seldom changes more than a bit (nor do the stories) not what we expect at the Beacon for sure. Kudos to Sir Paul for never letting the audience down. He had a Rolling Stone interview recently where he discussed saving up Money to hear (I think) Buddy Holly (or some other famous rocker of the time) as a young teen. He said he felt cheated that the main act was less than an hr -- and he never wanted his audience to feel cheated (though as I remember the Beatles often played only 30 min sets)
