Henry Paul and Outlaws charging $100 for a show

Honestly, I think this is to prepare people for the new billing. HP and the Outlaws.
So much drama...
That original band was so good, glad I got to hear them thirty or so times around Tampa, mostly at the Depot.

I think Chris Anderson is an under appreciate talent, and a nice guy. Saw the Outlaws do a soundcheck a few years back. They did a short Elizabeth Reed...Nice!
Just be clear, The Outlaws are not charging $100. The promoter of the show is charging $100.
The Outlaws, under a normal contract, charge a set fee....$15,000, or whatever, and the promoter sets the ticket price.

I saw Billy Jones play many times. Long Island was like a second home.
Billy and Hughie could bring it.
Very fun times and great memories.

Thanx for the info I just ordered the Old Friends CD. I love Chris and I concur a nice Gent.
I looked at the Outlaws website $14.99 for access that includes laminate meet and greet pass for any Outlaws show for 1 year.

TOT from OAO.

The Outlaws put out an awesome record in It's About Pride. A good quality disk.
I saw them for $100 per ticket at a fundraiser at a VFW 2 years ago. It was worth every penny. I've never seen them play a bad show, and word is David Dix will be back in the band by summer.

Brofan & I caught them at The House of Blues in Chicago right before Hughie passed. We stood right behind the soundboard. It was as awesome show. The place was basically empty but they rocked. Greatest hits show pretty much which was great for me. Only time I saw them and it was great.

Lefty kindly scored us comp tickets. Man, that was one loud show, and I mean LOUD. My ears rang for a few days after that. I saw the original band several (like 4 or 5) times back in the mid '70s and although I of course prefer that version of the band the version I saw with Lee at the HOB was very good. Chris Anderson did an excellent job of filling Billy Jones' unfillable shoes and of course, Hughie was nonpareil on guitar. And hate him or not, Henry wrote some of their best (in my opinion, of course) tunes.
We were hanging out in the bar of the hotel before the show and Henry walked right by me wearing a Blackhawks jersey and I didn't even recognize him. Lefty had to point him out to me. Felt pretty clueless about one of my all-time favorite bands.
This is THE BEST representation of the original band out there in terms of performance, sound, intensity - this show has it all, including the best live version of Green Grass ever recorded. It blows the version on Bring It Back Alive off the map, but then I always preferred this lineup to the Freddie Salem one anyway. A bonus is that it's at the Record Plant in LA, so the sound is absolutely top-notch. Had this as a vinyl bootleg back in '75 and was overjoyed to find it on CD:

Has anyone ever heard their version of "I Can't Stop Loving You"? Certainly doesn't really fit their m.o. as far as genre is concerned but it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

Chris Anderson and Steve Grisham were both hand picked by Hughie to play in his Guitar Army. They carry the Outlaws torch rather nicely..
Chris Anderson put out one of THE classic blues - rock records ever back in the late '90s and it was produced by Warren, who also played slide on it.... Could never figure out why he never recorded again.
Luckily, you can still find it if you search it out - and believe me, it is worth it:
I grabbed one of the Chris Anderson CD's and it's on it's way to me. I am a guitar loving fool and saw one of the finest stringer's displays on Nov 14th '86 at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ. It was Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan, & The Outlaws. That Outlaw version had Hughie and Chris Anderson dueling it out. I have been a fan ever since. Steve is also a Hughie pick and was enlisted into his Fla Guitar Army. They carry on his vision and from Hughie's hands to their hands to our ears.
It's just great music that is as close to what it ever was than it will ever be. Hughie will always be missed, but a part of him is onstage every time these guys share his music.
Here's GGAHT from the Mike Kach benefit.

Glad you were able to pick that up. Believe me, you will NOT be disappointed. I think it is one of THE best guitar records ever. Please update us after you've had a chance to give it a few listens. I just cannot fathom WHY this guy never made another record. He is SO good. In all aspects.
I forgot to mention Mike Kach plays on that disc as well. What happened to him? He really and truly is a great guy - talked to him after many of Dickey's shows.....man, I hope he is doing OK.
