Happy Birthday Uncle Phil

I think he got teary during the donor rap last night too.
He truly is grateful. He has taken that liver and gotten the most out of it. Seemingly really taken care of himself. Embraces the gift that is life and gives back all he can. The music is a gift.

No doubt. I also would not be surprised to hear that the Ruby thing deeply touched him the last few nights.
Same to you. Enjoyed the run. Warren is a piece of work for sure. Blessed to be a fan. Go Phil. Happy Birthday!

Terrapin Nation!

Went to the show.
Spectacular.
Since Phil began the Friends shows,I've seen plenty of them...this was the best.
Very tight band,Phil thundered,Warren was mind blowing-his tone is tremendous,Barry Sless was great with Warren,Molo was a powerhouse, and Barraco was special.
What a beautiful and powerful night of music.Easily one of the top concerts I've seen!

After seeing your post earlier in the day asking about conditions I wondered if you had decided to go. Glad to hear you had a great time. I know they are all busy but I sure would be glad to hear of the near Q with Sless playing more shows. Warren gave him nice applause during those final introductions. Like I said earlier, what a run of shows for Warren!

Agreed!
I'd love more Sco Mule and more Q with Sless. Its simply amazing how creative and ever evolving Warren is.Also, his tone has evolved. He is so multi talented its incredible.Since the ABB broke up Warren has played with great guitarists who truly challenge him stylistically. His rhythm licks with Sless are so interesting and his jazz chops with Sco are wonderful.Last night there was a bit of the heaviness of Mule in the music. In a very good way!One thing I heard from people around me who attended the entire run was how much better the Sless shows were than krasno, who they felt really was good, but didnt have the chops or range to keep up with first rate musicians like the Q guys.Kinda the way I heard it on the stream...they dragged with him and soared with Sless.

Good on Ya dadof2!
Live music - nothing quite like it... especially at the level that Quintet played the last two nights.
I'm ready for more Warren right now! Unfortunately I'm going to miss Gov't Mule in Richmond. I'll be in Baltimore on vacation. Taking in Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and an Orioles game. But I'm really happy Gov't Mule was announced for Lockn'. Phil and Friends are playing there as well. I'm guessing Warren will join Phil. I hope Barry joins as well, but Jimmy Herring is going to be down there too, so it might be the original Quintet.
Glad you had a great time!

Hot second set so far... Playing In the Band > Jam > Low Spark...
Krasno is playing great psychedelic, spacey fingers under Warren's slide during this Low Spark. Barracco is keeping the beat steady on the grand piano, and Molo is a monster on the drums.
Phil is keeping everything in the pocket.. all over the neck of his bass, but keeping the tempo deliberate and easy.
3/15 is up at the Archive. Diggin' the End of the Line.
