Happy Birthday Uncle Phil

Happy Birthday Sensei Lesh!!!!!*
*(Grand Master of Jamology)
75 years young!!!
LONG MAY YOU RUN!!!!!!

For sure. About to listen to the celebration on nugs.

Opened with Ripple holding his Grand Baby (?) in his arms.
Wow.

Just a little poignant. I believe the grandson is named Levon.

Couldn't believe they played "End of the Line"
This "Sunshine of Your Love" is sounding great.
They are getting their sea legs.

Phil is wearing the wristband with his donor's name on it. Very jammy early on. Bertha should kick it up a notch.

That intro was a lot like the Quintet. Which makes sense since 4 of them are on stage.
I think they are finding their way a bit tonight. They couldn't have had much rehearsal time. I bet the second set soars, and the next nights get progressively better.
I think tapperrob is streaming the audio for free here:

Nice harmonies on this "Half-Step"...
They are definitely gelling.

It was a nice set. Laid back in its own way though I'll admit I am still pretty pumped from the last 2 Mule nights.

Me too tbomike.
Plus the Sugaree Mule played in Charlottesville was extraordinary. I'm not down on this Phil run. I'm on the couch tour for the duration, but I feel the chemistry is not quite where it will be.

Hot second set so far... Playing In the Band > Jam > Low Spark...
Krasno is playing great psychedelic, spacey fingers under Warren's slide during this Low Spark. Barracco is keeping the beat steady on the grand piano, and Molo is a monster on the drums.
Phil is keeping everything in the pocket.. all over the neck of his bass, but keeping the tempo deliberate and easy.

Then a nice jam into The Wheel. Amazed after 4 consecutive nights of Mule Warren shifts so easily into such a different realm almost effortlessly. Been calling him a musical shape shifter for a long time. And Phil is the man.

Didn't they go back into Playing for a bit before the Wheel?
I'm rusty on my Dead tunes... I never thought I'd say that.

Might have though I was thinking Uncle John's was coming.

Me too for a second than rolled into the Wheel...
Those harmonies were astounding. Phil holding onto the bottom while Rob and Warren reached on up... very nice.
Into Broken Arrow.

Midnight Rider!!!
Hot Diggidity Dog!

And now Midnight Rider.

Morning Dew.

Very nice...

I am definitely digging the Almost Q with Krasno. I kinda think Warren stepped up with a little more leadership in the 2nd set. This is a very nice Morning Dew.

Nice that they fed cake to the crowd.
I really want to go to that venue.
Thanks for hanging in tonight tbomike!
You in tomorrow?

You too. Fun stuff. Yeah that was a nice touch with the cake. I do have the stream for tomorrow. Might miss some of the beginning though. 3 nights of Warren madness down. Happy Birthday Phil Lesh!

Happy Birthday Phil!
Many, many more.

Happy birthday,Phil!
I listened to last nights show on taperrob's stream.very good sound.
The show was a bit subdued at times, picked up as second set moved along.Krasno,IMO,plays within a particular comfort zone and prefers to keep it there. Its well done, but a more limited range than Warren,or than Warren and other partners with Phil(Sco,Herring,Jackie Greene, others)
after listening to so much Sco/Warren the last few days, perhaps I'm putting unfair expectations on krasno? Love having Barraco and Molo in the band and Phil sounds as good at 75 as he did 50 years ago!

Yeah dadof2... those Sco-Mule shows set a really high bar.
I expect Krasno will pick it up a bit tonight. The whole band should with one night under their belts.
Krasno had some great moments last night.

Great vocals tonight. Superb harmony on Cosmic Charlie.

Good Golly! Warren sure can walk that "Blue Sky" up, out and into a run!!!

Just dropped in to say Blue Sky was my jam! Krasno did nicely and then they settled into a nice groove behind Warren and he and Molo did some great stuff. Nice first set.

Jam > Dear Mr. Fantasy to open second set...
Nice jam in the way they seemed to search for the Fantasy riff.

I really like Krasno's style. Just standing back and tearing it up.
I wonder if Warren has ever considered adding another guitarist to Gov't Mule?
