Gregg's birthday

Today would have been Gregg's 71st birthday. Glad he shared his gift with us.

Never know how bad You gonna miss Someone or Something til They gone! Damn! Play On Brother Gregg!........Peace........joe

Thanks for the reminder. Going to have to give Southern Blood a good spin or two today.......

Yeah Southern Blood is well worth two spins at least. Rest easy Brother Gregg.

I'm still struggling that the two most significant voices I listen to have one (Gregg and Guy Clark). I'm going with Duck Tape Sessions today. I'm living in the House of Blues

This was on dime if anyone is interested:

Philadelphia had bought a ticket so it would be recorded. So "taking
one for the team" I got there early and got set up. After a few songs
with musicians coming and going from the stage I realized this was not
a normal show. It was actually a musical get together to celebrate the
birthday of Gregg Allman. His son Devin led a rotating band of musicians
including Allman Brothers offspring Duane Betts and Berry Oakly Jr through
an assortment of originals, covers and Allman Brothers tunes. Some of the
guests I knew such as Robert Randolph and others were new to me such as
Samantha Fish, Marcus King and Ally Venable. He even had his sister come
out and sing an inspired version of Gimme Shelter. Most of the time there were
8 to 12 people on stage but the final songs had over 25. Was quite the scene.
I was glad I was there to record this one. Thx Ed.

I don't think anybody comprehended how much we needed him and his music and what it would bring to our lives. He sung and spoke for all of us.

Happy Birthday Gregg the reality is your gone up to heaven the perfect place in all the world I hope your diggin your new home there and have reconnected with your mom and big brother and your dad wow and all your family and lots friends who were waiting for your arrival with that very special voice I’m sure the band is rocking . I hope I know how to find my way there when it’s my time.

Rainy you'll be on the list, and it will be eternal not just a one show guest list. I know who your going to see when you get there! I told the story a couple of times, but I KNOW they are up there. I was at this store and they had name cards, well the one with the name Duane on it had a picture of a road with no traffic on it, and it had Habbakuk 3:19 on it.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the Director on my stringed instruments.
