With Gregg doing two shows in Europe this summer, the Paradiso in Amsterdam and The Ramblin Man Fair in Maidstone.I was just wondering is anyone planning to attend these shows?
With these shows been very different I have decided to go to both as not sure when Gregg will be back in Europe again.

Hello EnglishDarren,

I will be attending the Paradiso show in Amsterdam with Jaimoe's Jazz Band as support act.

This is based on nothing, merely a hunch: but i wouldn't be surprised if that Amsterdam show will be recorded / filmed for a future release. Being the only indoor European show, Jaimoe supporting and The Paradiso a legendary venue often used for live recordings....."Gregg Allman: Live At The Paradiso".....time will tell.

Looking forward to the show. If you need help with directions etc. Amsterdam: maybe i can help!

Gregg is flying his band including a three piece horn section all the way to Europe and they're only doing two shows? That doesn't seem economically feasible. Maybe it's because he doesn't need the money?

Don't worry, he isn't paying the bill. Some of those on-off shows are very lucrative.

It's all very strange to me. In all honesty, Gregg isn't a festival headliner over here. Not a festival of the stature I believe the promoters are trying to achieve here anyway. Last time I saw Gregg in the UK, they didn't sell out a 2000 capacity theatre in London. Even the ABB couldn't sell out the 3000 capacity Hammy O all those years ago. Nah, I hope Ramblin' Man is a success but I just don't see it.

Seasick Steve is a bigger draw. Marillion on the Prog Stage is a bigger draw. Hell, Joanne Shaw Taylor on the Blues Stage is maybe a bigger draw than Gregg!

And casual festival-goers will expect - not unreasonably - to hear Gregg perform Ramblin' Man, which would be awfully funny.

I might even go just to see that. On second thoughts, er... no.

That is utterly astonishing to me. Maybe that's why ABB went over there once in 45 years?

Or maybe it's because they toured once in 45 years!

If you ignore a market both in terms of releasing new material and making appearances, you're unlikely to increase - or even retain - whatever following you once may have had.
