That was great - thanks for posting.

One of the best interviews that I have ever heard Warren do. Joe kicks ass with the questions. It likely helps that they are friends and just get talking but really cool stories.

Ok - so Keytar Man Mike Lawlor was initially part of Dickey and Warren getting together. I had never heard that or the singing backup on Dickey's album story. Long interview and great all the way through.

U watched this earlier, thanks for bringing it. The Don Rickles story was funny and the rest is great. It’s interesting to know that he “knew of” Garth Brooks before Two Of A Kind came out. Cool stuff here.

So before if a band typically sold a million copies of a new album, now that same album if released today would sell 100,000 and not even go gold. If a group typically sold 100,000 today it would be just 10,000 copies.

My old album of polka and salsa music sold 100 copies and now it would just be 10. Mine and 9 of my buddies.

Kinda like the club we were fired from. If all the people on the guest list were removed, might be 3 people there.

I subscribe to JB's podcast. Look forward to hearing the interview with Warren.

So far I have listened to Joe's talk with John Oates and Neal Schon. Both are very good. They go into Neal's history with Clapton,Hooker,Santana.

They also talk about JO owning Mississippi John Hurt’s Guild ’64 F-30.

Here is some nice finger picking work from him.

Finished the Warren one last night. Probably one of the better ones I have ever heard with him. A lot of time interviews with musicians and artist can be kinda cookie cutter, generic, and all the same. No fault of the artist by any means. Just the person conducting it might not be really in touch. Joe does a great job going through with WH his history, some gear stuff, and things you might not ever hear again. Well done JB . They could have went one for hours.
I like the gear talk where Warren and Joe talk about the use of getting and using clean headroom when playing.

I guess if JB's day gig does not work out. 😛 😛 😉 😉

That was a fantastic interview. Thanks for posting it...It was neat hearing the Utica, NY story...I live about a hour north of Utica and lived in the city itself for a brief time back in 1989. My first Gov’t Mule show was at a small club in Utica in 1995. It was called “Captain Trips Rainforest Preserve” and held maybe 150 people...What a venue to hear the Mule laying it down. I actually stood next to Warren outside the club before the show but was too chicken shit and very stoned to say anything to him.

Incidentally, Mule has played a number of shows at the Stanley Theatre and the Saranac Brewery. Both of which are in Utica, NY. The Stanley is a beautiful old time theatre that seats maybe 1800 - 2000 people...I last saw them there with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals back in maybe 2004...

Another interesting nugget in this interview is when Warren mentioned the female vocalist who helped him improve his singing techniques. I’ve often wondered if Warren had any help or formal training with regard to his stellar vocal chops...
