1."I Ain't the One"
2."Tuesday's Gone"
3."Gimme Three Steps"
4. "Simple Man"
How's that for a very first Side One?

Slap some James Gang on there.

a few not listed that I love:
Blind Melon - Blind Melon
The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies- The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies

Gregg Allman - Laid Back
Jaimoe's Jasssz Band - Renaissance Man

While notmy favorite bands, the impact of these albums were pretty dramatic:
Counting Crows: August and Everything After
Whether you like them or not, Hootie and the Blow Fish's first album had hit after hit.
Matchbox 20 (can't really stand them, but a monster debut album)

these may have been mentioned, but the west coast debuts like The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane Takes Off, Children of the Future, (by the Steve Miller Band) etc

Some will disagree with this one, how about Bachman Turner Overdrive. To me the first album was the best.

I would agree with this one being a fine debut, but not necessarily their best.
Great choice though....:)

Kansas(self titled)
Far better than anything they did afterwards.

Doobie Brothers - Toulouse Street
Eagles - Eagles
Crosby Stills and Nash - Crosby Stills and Nash
Dave Matthews Band - Best of What's Around

Doobie Brothers - Toulouse Street
Another second album.

I still have yet to hear a more powerful first few bars - hell, the first four bars - of a debut album than "Don't Want You No More" from the Brothers' debut record. It still blows my mind how huge that sound was.
