First time I watched more than a few minutes of the Grammys in probably 20 years, but I was distractedly watching it Sunday and actually enjoyed it pretty much.

The Bruno Mars stuff was good. The Lady Gaga and Metallica performance, too bad there was a mic issue, but I couldn't take my eyes of Lady Gaga!
Didn't really get the Beyonce performance. I didn't see the last hour or so.
But it was pretty good overall.
I guess the "Grammys" are all fine and dandy.....if "pop" music is your thing.
Me? Did not even know they were on and had I, absolutely zero effort would have been made to watch this "celebration"....
I was in a hotel room with crappy options, so I watched as well.
I actually thought the Keith Urban/Carrie Underwood (at least I think it was her) duet song was pretty good.

That was great. I didn't know anything about Bell, who by the way does NOT look 76, and it was cool to learn the name and hear the voice of the man who wrote one of my favorite songs. And during the Grammys, no less.
Bruno Mars is talented but left me cold. I don't think putting a guy in a Prince costume and having him play a Prince song exactly the way Prince played it is a good tribute to Prince. It just didn't mean much. They could've done something more creative and for that matter they should've done more than one song. But The Time were great. The Beyonce thing was earlier in the show, and it was art. I have no idea how they did some of those visual effects in a live setting, but I've never seen anything like it.

I watched it with my daughters. They like my music, but I don't always like theirs, but they said it best to me: "Dad, we listen and never make fun of your music, so don't make fun of ours". It was interesting.

Funny, I thought the exact opposite. I wasn't too familiar with Bruno, but thought he did an excellent tribute to Prince, whom I am rather familiar with. I thought Mars was some fly-by-night talentless singer, but I was wrong, he can perform!
I was also bummed Metallica had mic trouble. And Beyonce is rather talented, but i was stoked to see my favorite rap band, Tribe Called Quest, is still making great tunes. While a tad too political for some, I thought it was topical and great.

Sturgill Simpson and the Dap Kings were really good. IMO his Sailors Guide to Earth should have been album of the year. You have a country singer sing rock songs in front of one of the best R&B bands. What's not to like?

Agreed....although I would have a hard time putting Bruno Mars and D'Angelo in the same conversation in regards to anything.
Sturgill stole the show to me. Love that guy.

Nice!! I'm no Iron Maiden expert, but back in the pre- CD days, one of the best things I ever owned was a cassette of the EP "Maiden Japan." It was the Dianno / Clive Burr line-up, 2nd album tour I think, and what was amazing to my young lazy self was that the cassette had the same 5 songs on one side as on the other, and sure enough, I'd listen to one side and then flip it to enjoy the same songs all over again. Magic!!
I didn't get to see them with that line-up, alas. I saw them for the Somewhere In Time tour, with Yngwie opening, which was still pretty great.
Big Maiden fan here (although not as fanatic as in the Eighties) so i have to say "Shame On Me!!!" because i never made the connection with Clive Burr everytime i saw that signature pic. Seen Maiden approx a dozen times but always with Nicko on drums. First Maiden concert i saw was in 1983 (Piece Of Mind World Tour).

Big fan of the early era of Maiden with Dianno. The band seemed to have more of street punk urgency type vibe.

Another thing I always liked about Clives drumming is the way he would attack the snare more in drum fills versus the toms and cymbals. Not always, but seemed to do that more than other drummers. It gives a sharper poignant attack to the song structure with a rapid fire type sound.
Definitely a signature defining sound of the early Maiden.
