I have played the album more than a few times now, and am still struck by what a wonderful piece of work it is. Very well done.

I have probably listened to it well over 100 times now. It is a great piece of work. Would be a fitting tribute to Gregg if he won. It won't diminish the greatness of it if he doesn't either.

A Song For Adam now ranks up there among my favorite songs Gregg ever recorded. His vocals are so expressive. And all the instrumentation and the arrangement is great. I love that Gregg and Jackson aren't singing in perfect rhythm or harmony in the chorus. I love Gregg's final vocal that trails off (and the instruments that kick in instead of the next line).

So glad this album is getting some awards nominations. What a farewell gift from Gregg and his team.

I love that album
Agree with comments about Song for Adam. It's hard not to cry listening to that, and My Only True Friend (also nominated). Hopefully Gregg will win this

as an aside, TTB got nominated for best Contemporary Blues album

Gregg should have received a Grammy in 2011 for Low Country Blues, nominated for Best Blues Album. As anyone here knows, TTB's Revelator won it. Problem is, Revelator is not even a blues record. And I never even play it. I play Low Country Blues often, still. I don't get that one.

I haven't heard the other nominee's records, but it's hard for me to imagine a better Americana record than Southern Blood. I play it over and over again and don't get tired of it. Just a beautiful record.

In most polls it would be tough for Gregg to beat out Jason Isbell who is pretty much the king of whatever they are calling Americana music today.

I think he will win since it is not like the Grammy voters actually listen to the music they are voting on and Gregg has the most familiar name and the sentimental backstory.

That said, I like the Isbell album just a little more than Gregg's album. I haven't heard the others.

Gregg will likely in over Isbell (Isbell's record is GREAT by the way, definitely worth checking out). Even Jason himself would probably feel wrong taking this award over GA. I don't forsee GA losing this, if for no other reason, the circumstances. And I'm okay with that.

On the Americana side of things, I am becoming more and more obsessed with Chris Stapleton. As much as I enjoyed the first album, I think From a Room is even better.

Dude is all-round great, epic voice, good guitar player, great songwriter. Maybe he's in some of the country categories, but it'd be a shame if he's not up for anything this year.

not sure what does American mean? Is it Country? Or not Hip hop? Gregg's album is great but to me it is Country IMO. That seems to be where this fits. But i certainly am no expert. LOL

I think Americana is basically "real" country music. It's not called country these days, because country is now owned by pop country, which is almost like 90's pop rock with a twang.

Music can't / shouldn't be labelled or put in a category
If it wasn't for marketing and awards shows, those things wouldn't exist

While I don't care much for the Grammys, I do however wish for Gregg's legacy to live on through this record.....

Go for the win brothers
