It is my understanding that Skynyrd guitarist Ed King underwent a very serious surgery earlier today and his condition is yet to be released. I'm sure his family and fans are pretty concerned for his future...

Some good vibes and thoughts from this board just might help this amazing talent and gentle giant.

Get well my friend!

I was at that show. Was a jr. in high school. Winterland was our sanctuary in those days. TOO. MANY. GREAT. SHOWS. My parents had no idea. They thought I was at my best friend Sue's for a sleepover or something, LOL.

Get well, Mr. King.

I was there too! I believe this is the show where Billy Powell was absent, after the encore a few of the band members emerged from backstage to say "That is all of the songs we can play w/o Billy" and the concert ended.
Cool

Best to Ed, a true picker.

the 1987 Skynyrd reunion with Ed still rates up there among the best concerts and electric crowds I've ever seen. Ed tears it up on That Smell covering the clean pickin' Steve Gaines parts. Ed's a pro with touch:

(and the brief parking lot fan scene is hilarious)

Ed is out of surgery and appears to be on the mend. If I understand correctly, he had a golf ball size mass removed from the top of one of his lungs...and this after a Heart transplant some years ago. What a warrior...get well my friend, you are one of my guitar heroes!

Did he sign your guitar?.

I've never met Ed, but think the world of his phrasing; wish him a speedy recovery
Cool
