Thank you for the link. I believe I will kickstart my day with some Mule. If you guys didn't check out the Yahoo stream, the show from January 3rd is bloody brilliant. Perhaps my favorite from the last few years.

Thanks. Only problem with this article is I wrote it but it is credited to someone else... gonna write them right now and hope that they got it right in the magazine, which I have not seen yet.

That's a massive problem Alan. I hope you get it worked out.

I thought the article was great and showed a side of Gov't Mule that is overlooked and needs to be exposed. Warren and the gang are far more than top notch musicians. They are, in my mind, musicologists, musical historians specializing in the time that has most influenced my life.

I saw another musical historian last night - Arlo Guthrie. He covers a time period pre-dating the era covered by the Mule, but they definitely dovetail. Arlo's stories about Pete Seeger, Leadbelly, Brownie McGee, Ramblin Jack Elliot, and, of course, Arlo's Dad Woody are extremely important.

Arlo brings those stories to life with his words, but primarily with the music.

Thanks Alan for digging in with the Mule and exploring this topic. I'd love to see more interviews that focus on the intellectual and, if not too controversial, even the political side of Gov't Mule. At least a rhetorical study of the lyrics of "Where's My Mule" would be really interesting.

Thanks. Problem resolved and confirmed that it is properly attributed in the magazine.

I've been having great conversations with Danny Louis backstage and whatnot for years - decades, even! It was great to finally do an actual interview with him and bring his insight in.
